3g TL spots on hood.

Hey guys. I have these dull spots all over the hood of my 2006 Acura TL. They've been there since I've bought the car back in 2014. I've tried countless washes, clay bar, waxes, goo gone, 50/50 water and vinegar. Not a single change. Starting to think they clear is gone over the paint. They are rough in texture. Can't tell if they are raised or recessed. Any help would appreciated.

either someone touched up those spots or the clear coat is gone in those spots....
either or, it looks like you're up for some wet sanding fun!

I was afraid of that... Wet sand the entire thing and reclear? Or just try wet sanding the spots first?

look up some videos on how to wet sand....ChrisFix has a great video...
it involves sanding a little bit above and a little bit below scratch or imperfection...
the way your "holes" are...they're very close to one another...meaning you'd probably have to wet sand MOST of the hood.

I had something similar to that and I cleaned the car clay bar’d it, compound, polished and waxed the hood, and looks new.

I was going to try a wash, clay, polish, wax before I went full sandpaper. Do you think the compound is necessary before I try skipping it?

Honestly if I were you I’ll just compound it, why not, for the whole hood took me 2 hrs to do all that and I was taking my time. If anything tape off that section clay bar it and polish see if it works, if it doesn’t clean it off and compound it, if it does then do the whole hood if you like. I’m very happy with my results out of 20 scratches my hood had a oxidation and fading, this thing look brand new minus 2 deep scratches

I'll snag some compound just incase. Doesn't hurt to have some on hand. I plan to tackle it this Monday. I'll post up the results. Thanks for the help! Fingers crossed I don't need to break out the fine grit.
