350z re-do

I did this car for a co-worker almost a year ago. He had a neighbor's detailer go at it a few weeks back and he marred the HELL out of the finish. So here I come in to do it over (sorry I don't have any before shots, i started at 6 a.m. and it was real dark out)

Used SSR 2.5 w/ an orange propel pad and another pass w/ a green pad
Followed up w/ Natty's Paste wax

he has an old beat up civic as his DD and he said this other "detailer" tried to polish spots of it out but said the paint was dead. He had tried the same thing but to no avail. So I asked him to let me do a little corner real quick and see how it comes out.

here is the trunk deck (you can see the spot I polished to the right)

before:

after:

Needless, he was impressed and a little pissed. He's anal like me and now he was upset cause he knows the car can look good and now he's gonna take care of it. He's a nice guy and always sits around asking questions while I detail and helping him out. I told him this car would be a perfect place for him to practice on. So I left him my equipment to practice on the civic. He called me about 8 hours later to tell me he was done. I'm gonna inspect it this week and see how he did on his own

BTW, did I mention this was an hour drive away, i spent 4 hours there and did it all for free I like keeping customers happy to much

Great Work !
Interesting to see that you can go from SSR2.5 right to Nattys....more product combos I still need to try.

It's good karma....keeping your customers happy.

What's usually tough about them? It's my new favorite pad patrick. I'm gonna have to order some more.

I definately like these propel pads better then the LC's for some reason. I'm gonna have to invest in some 4" ones too

Yea im confused too. There are no issues going from SSR 2.5 to Nattys?

Figured you needed something less abrasive in between, no?

I agree. For some reason i have better control of the PC with the propel pads over the LC's.

didn't need it, I solved the marring problem (although there really wasn't any) by going from the orange pad down to a pass w/ the green pad.

That said, i've skipped the middle pass more then a few times.

IMO 2.5 is inbetween Megs #80 and #83 in terms of cutting ability

My exact findings as well, and I loved 80, but rarely use it anymore.
Scott, my usual routine with 2.5 is, 2.5 with Green Propel, then Green Propel with Opt Polish. Im wondering what would happen if I went with the Orange and Optimum ???

Ya,...I thought it was advisable to use something milder after 2.5. Looks like it's been explained to me

for most it probably is, depending on the type of pad you use.

Pad type is a big factor in all situations

Hotrodguy- I've never had a bias for one product over another, but Opt products are the easiest to use and produce outstanding results, beginner to expert

Foam Pad Selection:
The abrasion or cutting ability of a foam pad relative to its composition (number of pores per inch) The work is approximately distributed, 60% product, 30% foam composition (PPI) and 10% pressure applied and/or speed of rotation or oscillation.
