'07 Type-S Wheels vs '08 Type-S Wheels?

Hey guys, I'm looking to replace one of the wheel hubs on my 2007 Type-S (stock wheels). For some reason, one of the hubs has the "A" logo as a light-brown (almost like solid brake-dust, but won't come off).

First, I'm curious if I could possibly clean this up somehow, without damaging the wheel paint. Guessing this is probably a no...

Otherwise, I'd like to just buy a new hub from acuraoemparts.com. However, I'm finding that the 2007 and the 2008 Type-S wheels pull up two different styles of wheels. The 2007 shows the hub as a single-piece, whereas the 2008 shows it as the hub + plate ("A" cover).

I'm wondering if possibly the previous owner bought a 2008 wheel (maybe why it's brown instead of grey?) and I should get the 2008 cover. It's $20 for the full 2007 hub or $5 for the 2008 cover. Anyone see any issues with my trying to buy the 2008 cover for my (hopefully) 2007 wheel & hub? Can they mix-and-match?

Here's the two links showing the difference between the 2007 and 2008.

2008:

Thanks in advance!

I assume you're talking about the "A" center cap..? I do see that the 2008 diagram shows that the center cap has a "plate" piece that has its own part #. Not sure what that plate is. I was under the impression that the 07-08 center caps were identical.

Yeah, that's why I was curious as well. I'm hoping to get a few more responses... if not I might just pony up the $20 bucks and replace the whole hub.

Still crossing my fingers that someone knows a good way to turn it back to grey...
