What age are TL drivers?

Hey, I just got my new 2004 TL AT5, (black/black) with Navi... and is it ever a SWEET car :) Anyways, i was just wondering how old other TL drivers are and if the new design is appealing to the younger generations more than the older ones did. So if you have the new 2004 TL please drop a line saying your age, oh and just for fun a rating scale of 1 to 10 for your new car. Thanks! :)

rybocf 11-06-2003 12:49 PM

I'm 30. The pre '04 TL did not appeal to me AT ALL, not even in the slightest.

I was previously mostly a German car buyer, or Hondas (but I bought Hondas for economics and reliability, switched to Germans when I could afford it). I've been waiting for Honda to make a more "German" car, combining good looks with reliability, performance, and technology.

I don't have my car yet, but will have it on or before Monday, so I can't rate it. I wouldn't be buying and posting here if I didn't think it was going to be a home run though.

35 y/o
Fun rating 9 (not a 10 because I don't have the 6MT)
Previous TL, in comparison, was an 7.5-8 after I dropped it with Comptech, put real rubber on the wheels, and went to 17"s.

CTyler 11-06-2003 01:02 PM

I'm 30. I picked up my NBP/Ebony/5AT/Navi on 10/25. I always thought the previous TLs were nice, but they just didn't do it for me. Now, I loved the Legend Coupe...unfortunately, I couldn't afford one when they were being made. I have always like Hondas...my 1st car was a used '82 Honda Accord 4 door sedan (5 speed)...I LOVED that car. :D :D My 3rd car was '98 Honda Accord EX-V6 (Black/Black) coupe...WONDERFUL!! The TL is my 5th car. So, cars 1, 3, and 5 have been a part of the Honda family. :D :D

Fun rating.. hell I give it a 10, I'm having a blast in this thing shredding everyone so far cuz people in Atlanta don't know how to play. Even got molestered by a fun ricer in a TSX 6-speed.. was nice to encounter some fun.

Oh yeah.. and the 5th day we had it, did 135mph up I-85 with a 350Z.. that was fun.

I was 28 when I had my 2000 TL and for the time for me it was fun, but this one is just so much more capable.

Later.

erikmoeser 11-06-2003 01:10 PM

56. Don't have my 6M TL yet, prob another couple of weeks. Other cars: Audi S4 and Honda S2000.

serin 11-06-2003 01:13 PM

man, you know how to live erik. i'm half your age and all i can think about is how the TL can fit a baby seat :D rock on..

danno 11-06-2003 01:16 PM

I`m 45 years young and I`m picking up a 04 6spd w/nav. Before this I had a 99` M3 Convt. It had the full Dinan Performance added to the car. The only thing I missed was that it was an Auto., but not this time!

rick955i 11-06-2003 02:27 PM

Ditto what Ryan said, but I am 32

scottt 11-06-2003 02:27 PM

I'm 34. Love my TL-S, but can't wait for the lease to be up so I can get a 6sp TL

tallrussian 11-06-2003 02:48 PM

I'm 34. I had an Accord (and still do) and I love that car (I've owned it for 7 years, no problems whatsoever).

Needed another car for the growing family and was actually leaning towards a German, but couldn't quite convince myself to ignore rather poor reliability reports or to justify the unreasonably high price versus the performance/value provided. Almost all of my friends who have german cars (from both BMW and Mercedes) advise me against them because of the numerous and constant problems they are experiencing.

I almost bought an MDX at some point, but then saw a 2004 TL in the showroom and I was sold! TL managed to combine my "needs" with "wants" and more, and was a perfect fit for the price. Now I've had the car for a week and I love it! SatinSilver/Quartz/Auto/Navi.

timnguyen9 11-06-2003 02:50 PM

33 and counting...:o

rybocf 11-06-2003 02:50 PM

Danno, You're giving up your M3? I know the TL is a great car, but its not "M3 Great" :)

Why are you ditching it?

41 years old. Traded in my safe commuting car ('98 Camry), time for a little fun. Got my Blue/Camel AT w/Navi two days ago. WOOHOOO!!!! Rates a 12, compared to the Camry :=)

DNA 11-06-2003 03:06 PM

So far, I'm the oldest by two years. My AM/Q Nav is due in tomorrow or Monday.

need4spd 11-06-2003 03:17 PM

39, car is a 9 - like Neronbob, missing 6spd and brembos, and LED blinker up front! (first time in 23 years without a MT, but wife finally rulled, for now :argue: ).

Like others, was looking german, S4, 330 performance package, 530 sport, or A6 4.2, just could not see spending the extra money when Acura had a car with these looks and performance! The TL is still cheaper than even used cars of the above!

Been waiting since the NY autoshow last April!

SSM/ebony AT Navi

vtechbrain 11-06-2003 03:29 PM

38, Car is definitely a 10. I do have a stick!!! lots of younger oglers at the gas stations. Favorite comment "Is that an 04? It looks great". Obviously this car is not for the kids but it does get their attention. Looks good for acura's future!

TorontoTL 11-06-2003 03:45 PM

36 y.o. This TL is the best car I've owned. For me the fun factor is a 9 like many of you guys. My car is an automatic and my old TL was a 6.5 for fun.

GoBig 11-06-2003 03:47 PM

I'm 35 going on 22. Out of 10, it's a 10 because of the 6MT!!!!

Oswald Vater 11-06-2003 03:47 PM

49. Drove mostly American rides until 2k TL - love the car and have had NO problems whatsoever to this point. Can't say that the new one does quite as much for me as it is more aggressively styled but that won't stop me from leasing one if the numbers are right in June.

Eiffel 11-06-2003 04:00 PM

I am 41 and I rate it a 10. That is compared to my 88 Pontiac "no frills" POS GrandAm. I like it besides the quite ride, quickness, quality, and the super stereo. I just ordered 6 more DVDs besides the dozen I got just before the car.

hoople 11-06-2003 04:34 PM

41, loving it, traded my 93 Explorer ... 141K no probs until the last two months, but I loved that truck ... now I can't get my wife out of the TL! (sound system + XM has her in its grips) ... kids love it too, controlling the car with the voice activation ... I enjoy the quiet power, tight control, great lines, and since I'll be spending quite alot of time in it due to road warrior status, the entertainment/navigation system will be a Godsend ... grade it a 9.5

hickdoc 11-06-2003 05:47 PM

52 years old or is that young. White pearl/camel on order. Second car is 91 300Z TT. Just cant trade it in. Worth more to me on the weekends than what they will give me for it. The TL is a giant step up in comfort and luxury and all you really need in everyday driving with respect to cajones. I cant wait.

HacksawHilliard 11-06-2003 06:42 PM

46 and 9.5

eneg 11-06-2003 07:28 PM

Geeez! Everybody here (but me!) is so young!

56! Car had 8 miles on it when I picked it up this morning.
Now has a total of 13 miles.
And it's gonna stay that way until it stops raining!!!
Sorry, I can't rate it yet. . .

59 years 11 months. Waiting for my SSM/Ebony navi.

Sparky 11-06-2003 08:34 PM

48. My 04TL is a 9.5.

2Wheels 11-06-2003 08:36 PM

I'm 43 and should have my 6M Navi in 2 weeks. I'd give the 5sp an 8 and I'm guessing the 6sp will be a 9. For me a Z8 would be a 10, but I just can't justify the extra $100K for a 10% increase in score ;-)

turbowhat 11-06-2003 08:36 PM

and its a 9 (because its not an M3)

10 after i get it A-spec??

Rocketsfan 11-06-2003 08:39 PM

I'm 33.

I didn't like previous TL's because they looked like bland sedans. I had been set to buy a G35 sedan for the past couple of years when I saw the TL in a spyshot. I still didn't think I liked it. But then I saw one in person and test drove it. I was in love with the techno-geek wizardry and the more aggressive look than previous generations. I loved the interior far more than the G35. I bought it less than a month after the test drive. I have a NBP Black/Ebony w/ Nav TL with 600 miles on it. I haven't regretted the purchase at all. I love the car!

bollywood21 11-06-2003 09:22 PM

I'm 30.
Unfortunately delivery of my vehicle isn't until the end of the month.
Based on my test drive. I would rate it 9.5. Deductions for front wheel drive, medium torque, and no rear sunshade. Bonus points for interior, phone system, sound system, and most important Honda reliability.

arkollbay 11-06-2003 09:24 PM

38 going 39 in 1 week. Mine is NightHawk Black Pearl with Camel Interior/AUTO/NoNAV. The car is just GREAT! I'm getting a BlueTooth phone next week. 290 miles so far, raining like nuts in South Florida. At work everybody loved the car, there was a time when 6 people were looking at it, all around. All Honda owners look at it, trying to figure out what the hell is it. Track 22 of the included DVD-A is part of the daily tours at work.

houston-tl 11-06-2003 09:25 PM

I'm 30. My new 2004 TL peral white w/navi won't be here until 22nd of this month. Currently, I am driving a 2002 tl-s.

Jinen 11-06-2003 09:34 PM

37 and have a SSM/Ebony/Navi/5AT on order. ETA Mid-November. Currenlty have a '00 TL Black/Ebony coming off lease (talk about timing). Rating 9/10 because no 6MT. Wish we could get 6MT/Navi in Canada. Maybe all us Canucks should have started a petition before buying.
