Windshield wiper defrosting fluid

How safe are those defrosting windshield fluids for the windshield seals?

you spray it on your windshield and it melts the ice/ snow right off.
Just wondering due to the chemicals how safe it would be for the seals?

If I remember correctly those fluids are mostly alcohol which would tend to dry out the seals over time...see what the ingredients are, that should help you. Better off just scraping the ice off imo.

Do what I do. Place a sheet or blanket over the windshield. Tuck it into the wiper blades at the bottom and each front door at the top. In the morning remove sheet/blanket and wala. No ice! BTW, I live in Florida.

Beach towel works great too!

Really, and you have to do that once, maybe twice all winter?

That's a really good idea actually. Would save me from cleaning up my wife's car when its parked outside!

Make your own with 2:1 isopropyl alcohol and water.

I made my own this weekend with 2:1 alcohol and rain-x windshield washer fluid (the orange kind).

The OP is talking about the deicer that comes in a spray can, not WWF.

Instead of using the door to hold up the towel, you can leave your wipers in mid stroke and have the wipers hold down the towel alone.

Not a good idea to leave wipers in mid stroke. They will freeze to the surface of the windshield cover and if not released before turning the key on............

LOL, well, in NE Florida we probably get about 20 nights that it freezes.

Don't you have to pull the wipers up and remove the cover before starting your car?
