Widebody TL?

Now the TL is pretty wide, but anyone ever considered a widebody TL, you know, flaring the fenders more? If you've ever been on A-CL and A-TSX, this has been done on those cars, not sure if anyone did a widebody 2nd gen TL, but a 3rd gen would definetly look interesting, not to mention open up the possibility for wider wheels (and deeper dish).

You mean like the Concept TL's fenders? I would love to see that in execution. Anything more "wild" than that, might detract from its natural lines.

you got it, definetly very similar to the Concept A-Spec TL, if you wanted the flush look, it would have to be molded, which can have its issues, but it wouldn't look bad if the lines were there... I'll try to find pics to show what i mean

cTLgo,

I really like the rims on that TSX, who makes them?

Are they the same one's on the CL?

Hmm...perhaps RonJon can work something out. I do like the way they look, however unless I can see some aftermarket kits without the huge gaps...I won't buy it. The TL deserves better (these kits pictured have pretty good fitment, in comparison to what I've seen though).

the CL's body kit was made by VIS, the TSX's kit made by Mugen, the fender flares were custom and fitted to flow with the respective bodykits

Wow who made that kit and what do we need to do to get one for our TL. That is one sick looking TSX.

i might try this with the OEM kit for the TL, its a matter of finding the right fender flares and getting a good shop to do the work

Are those even real widebodys? I think those are just fender flares and bodykits. True widebodys have alot more alterations to the body, the entire quarter-panel sticks out, not just right above the wheel. . . I think. . .

If you want a custom widebody kit, I know a guy that can get it done for you but the only thing is that he would need your car for 2 weeks. Then again, you're in Chicago area so kinda hard to drive down to Dallas.

TL doesn't have any bodykit beside the OEM...

I dunno how long we should wait for those wide kits... 2years? 3 years?

Just expect a normal body kit first... T_T

If anyone in Dallas wants to be a guinea pig, I'm sure the shop would help out.

That widebody CL is all custom. Before the car got discontinued, owners were begging for any kind of aftermarket support. there was hardly any and no body kits.

Sorry buy widebody and fwd=fruity

Agreed...sort of. I guess the only thing gained from widebody on a FWD car is uhh looks? If that's your aim, go for it.

I didn't see any difference on my TL and Concept TL's fenders. I have 2 pics of Concept TL but I can't insert image.

There were 2 concepts, the TL concept and the TL A-spec concept.... he was referring to the A-spec concept but said TL Concept

Yup, that's what I meant. The A-Spec concept has more aggressive fenders than our production TL.

Yup, those wide fenders to fit fatter meat on the rear tires for more......uhhhh.....hmmmmmm......

Ricers. Why do u THINK people get fender flares? Why does the Porsche 911 Turbo have a wider body than the standard Carerra? It is to fit fatter wheels to apply that power to the rear.

Funny thing is, if u watch stock car racing, those 8 second Civics have fender flares in the front with huge tires and tiny tires in the back. Functional yes, since they must apply all that power to the front wheels. But it looks so.............

Anyone in DFW who wants to give up their car for 2-4 weeks and buy fenders for fitting, this can be done.

I wish I could, but I can't possibly go without my car...my schedule is to hectic right now. But i would be willing to join in a some kind of group buy, if that'll increase our chances of getting the wide body kit created. I love the look of the wide body A4, a little jeolous, to be honest, I want a wide body

guys, its not that easy. to put on a widebody, you have to alter the fender underneath the flare, so wider tires and wheels can fit without rubbing on the original fenders. also lower offsets need to be used for the wheels, we're talking from a OEM 45mm offset to a 20mm offset or less. so, You need to find the flare kit, then permanantly adjust the oringal fender by trimming it, fabricate a new wheel well and finally buy some custom wheels that will run at least 4k. is it really worth it for some flares? thats why every flare job that looks good is always custom.
