I know it has something to do with the airbags but WTF, they did it for the driver. Just use the same seat.
Forgive me if this has been discussed as I am new.

You're right, it is the airbags. There are sensors in the back of the passenger seat for the airbags, and because of them the seatback doesn't heat.

I also believe it is possible for Acura to integrate both functions in one seat...but they don't.

The sensors are there to prevent the airbags from going off if a lightweight passenger were to sit in the passenger seat. Studies have shown that there is more potential to cause more harm by inflating the airbag than just wearing the seat belt.

I had the same problems...which is of course why I stopped in to check out the post!
I agree with others, I will rarely if ever ride as a passenger in my car...plus I don't use the heated seats too often since they take a few horses away from the engine! However, I do agree for $35,000 it should be no different from the driver's seat.

All those functions are electric, and the alternator is going to be spun by the engine regardless of whether or not u have your accesories on or not. THe only thing that can make a difference with HP is the AC. Im pretty sure even the blowers for vented air (non AC) dont affect the HP, because that is also an electric motor.
