What's the mileage on your 3G? Still going strong?

2005 TL
Purchased at 92k miles.
Currently have 105k miles with mostly city driving.
I am the second owner.
Issues/repairs:
- brake calipers frozen - needed replaced
- boot caliper boot torn - had to replace boots (happened a few times)
- interior rattling (not a huge issue)
- backseat belts have brown residue? Is water coming up front underneath the vehicle?
- rust around one wheel well (may have been due to negligence from prev owner)
- steering wheel vibrations
- slight hesitation with transmission shifts from 2nd to 3rd, from 3rd to 4th gear with cold start - after it's been running for a bit the hesitation goes away.
Would I buy another 3rd Generation TL? No. I've spent more money on repairs and have seen more issues than I expected from a premium Japanese vehicle. I should have gone with the Lexus IS250.... oh well.

One on the right for me
It was a pretty random failure (although I guess all are). One day it was fine and then the next thing I noticed it turned pink for a few hours then went out completely. I hope the replacement set lasts another 10 years for what the bulbs cost...

Also, my drivers side went out at around 120k and 7 years. I leave the headlights on all the time so it probably would have gone longer. I noticed it one day at a light in the reflection on a trucks bumper. The night before it was fine and then it went pink one day and purple the next. I only replaced the one. I know you're not supposed to but I was short on time and money. The passenger side is still going fine since Dec of '05 and 125,000 miles.

^^^ lol ditto here Matt...
I was averaging, about 25-30K miles a year...now am down to 10K miles....
funny enough, my ballast went it and it was due to condensation forming in my modded headlight. I bought a used ballast, sealed the headlight once again and she has been just fine *knocks on wood*

the guy i am buying the car said he has yet to find a product to keep the headlight oxidation from coming back and has had to polish them every 3-5 months. have you guys found any product that works well vs. replacing them with the DEPO/OEM ones?
in the Honda community, the DEPO replacement assemblies were of decent quality.

I would love to go back to a "normal" yearly mileage. Mileage limits what I want to buy and/or drive. I have put all of about 10k on the S6 in the last few years.

I'm thinking about using one of those 2K clear coats.

I got that idea after seeing this.

I have an 06 MT with 80,400.Anthracite Gray. I bought it in April 2009 as a certified used-car. At that time it had 36,200. It is a great car and I look forward to keeping it for several more years.

I have driven 3 different third generation TL's for a total of 140k.
Yesterday was the first time one has let me down.
07-S Transmission hardline that runs into radiator burst off causing all coolant and most trans fluid to drain rapidly. New radiator and hardines in route and should be back to speed.

293k and still running strong.....
I just passed the 293k mark and my Aspec is still running like a champ. I'm trying to figure out if it would be worth it to do my timing belt and water pump again. I really doubt I'll be driving to 400k but you never know, it doesn't use oil and it runs great. I've only gone through 1 transmission at 200k. All I can say is this TL is a great car!

2015 TLX V6 Tech
07 TL with 91,000. I just drove from Houston to Denver, toured for a week, and back to Houston. Mileage varied, but I saw 34 MPG on 2 tanks of regular, 33 on a couple, a 32, 31 and a 30 when driving in town and around state parks. All tires inflated at 32 psi in the morning (about 40 degrees). I do my own oil changes, Mobil 1 5w20, and I did it just before leaving on the trip. We drove all the way back from Denver in 19 hours; I would not have made it in a lesser car. We did not feel beat up. The car is a joy. Give me a road with some sharp curves and the car makes driving FUN!!! Love it. I'm thinking of keeping it 4 more years and going for the 2nd gen. TLX.

I currently own 3 Acuras. This is my favorite/first!
2004 Acura TL SSM base 5AT
Currently at 204,xxx miles.
Since 2004 nothing has been replaced out of the normal Acura spectrum, luckily. The car did have a strange issue with the drive indicator light which no one could figure out. I found this forum, replaced the gear range switch on a whim through a DIY, and it has not returned in months .
-Been in the family since 2004
-105k service once (coming up again)
-4 sets of brake pads plus rotor service
-4 sets of tires (Michelin)
-oil/filter changes every 4k
-original transmission
-original HID lamps and LED lamps
-did not follow MID but a recommended mileage chart instead
-45% dealer/55% myself with repairs
-OEM parts only, folks.

I've got 150k miles on my 04 that I recently acquired. It looked terrible when I got it. Heck, I guess I'll make a progress thread. It has been badly maintained and currently only has a few issues. It instantly needed a batt terminal (I replaced in on the used car lot I bought it at) and the clutch is getting kind of soft. It's still very strong for low end, but if I wind the gears out to far it will have a slight delay before the clutch is fully engaged in the next gear. Sometimes it doesn't want to start. It has never failed to start, but a lot of the time I'll turn the key and it will just stop turning over, then start turning over again about 1/2 to a full second later. Not sure what that is.

Hello. I just joined these forums and... Well I just got my 06 TL a couple weeks ago. It had about 114,500 on it. It's now about 115,600. I drive about 100 miles a day to and from work (mostly highway). I actually took it to the Acura dealership to have a recall taken care of (power steering hose). Anyhow, they looked it over in the process and told me for it to run tip top shape, I would need to take care of the leaks (oil), flush and refill all fluids, replace the drive belt, timing belt, and possible power steering pump. (It sounds like an old steam locomotive when making sharp turns). Who ever had this car before me didn't take very good care of it. But all in all, it is still a pretty nice looking car, inside and out. I runs pretty good, handles good and still have a lot of power. I'm sure I'll be here quite a bit picking y'all's brains and seeking advice too. My first Acura and I don't know why I never got one before lol. Love this car!

Welcome!
That sounds like perfectly normal TL stuff. My power steering pump was discovered to be leaking at 108k. An oil leak was discovered at 122k. The dealer told me I had to have the oil pump rebuilt. I was like, what? I see no oil under the car, so I'm going to leave it alone for now. I had the rear main seal replaced at 122k because the MT had to be rebuilt anyway. Front motor mount was bad too, so it was replaced.
Your axles are probably going to go next. Mine were replaced at 105k.
Any plans to mod it? =) I'm at 127k, and I'm just beginning to get into the modding spirit.

Original owner '05 Black/Black MT and Nav 110,000 miles...
Other than normal scheduled maintenance
One battery replaced
One frozen rear caliper replaced
Two brake jobs
Both recalls
O ring on the power steering
Car is still as solid as the day I purchased it. Engine is strong and still get 30mpg on the highway.
Never updated the NAV DVD, its the most outdated thing on the car...lots of new roads over the past 9 years.
Every time I look at my cassette slot I smile.
