I've had a similar experience with my '06 TL. The original owner put 12,000 miles on it in six years and I then put the next 12,000 miles on it in 6 months.

Dropping car off this weekend for some work:

Timing belt (again)
Control arm bushings

Normally do the work myself but its easier to have this knocked out during a weekday. At 222k aside from normal oil changes, 105k maintenance, brakes/rotors, and tires the control arms are the only other thing it's needed. Car has been pretty much maintenance free (or hassle free) otherwise.

Just about to click over 130k on my 2008 Type S, no issues whatsoever.

Bought this car from its original owner who drove it to 128k (I just got it) and the only issue it has ever had was a loose piece of trim and a failed purge valve.

I've started to develop a power steering leak which i'll fix this spring when it's not so cold out but other than that it runs like a champ.

04 tl

I've got 220K on my 04TL and hoping to get her to 300K. I bought it in 09 with 86K on it. I swear by Mobil1 oil AND filter. Other than that, mostly reg maint stuff until this winter. I did have the starter replaced and the timing belt replaced right around 110K, so I'm due for another timing belt, but the last one looked so good when they pulled it out I may try to put another 20K on it. I've had a couple rear calipers lock up and replaced those too. So this winter has been horrible in MI (both weather wise and for my car). Here's a run down:
1. Passenger headlight stopped working....flickered for a few days then went out. There's two lights - the HID $100 bulb and the 'normal' $10 bulb. I replaced the $10 bulb first but when it didn't work, I didn't even bother trying the HID bulb (because of the cost and the cold)
2. CD player stopped working. Radio, XM, and all other controls work fine. Sounds like this is a problem other TL owners are having with no solution (other than isimple)
3. VSA, brake light, and triangle light are all on - this just happened within the last week. When I start the car, the brake light stays on, then a few seconds later (without putting the car into gear or pressing the brake pedal) the VSA and triangle lights come on......

So I see a lot of great discussions on here and a lot of smart people that know a hell of a lot more about this stuff than I do.... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

One last note - I love my TL, hands down the best car I've ever owned and top five ever driven (only topped by 2 door sports cars - corvette, bmw, 350Z) I have yet to find a better combination of performance, styling, comfort, mpg, and value.

'04 bought new in October '03. Just hit 235,500 recently. I think I'll be getting rid of her this summer when the 5G TL should be out. She's had a few repairs here and there, but has generally been very reliable.

I bought my 2006 Base with 74,000 and I put about 4,000 on it with no problems at all. Smoothest running car I have ever owned.

Picked up my 06 Base 5AT two weeks with 96k on the clock.. so far so good. Previous owner had all maintenance records since new..so I know its been well maintained from the dealer other than the TB which i'll do soon. Even though the tranny shifts perfect, I plan to do the 3rd, 4th gear pressure switches along with a tranny flush by 100k. Gonna start some slight mods this coming weekend...

2004 6-speed currently sitting at 170k.

I'm still on original clutch and motor mounts. I'm hoping they last until the next time I do my timing belt/water pump. I'd rather replace it all at once.

171k and runs like ass right now. Need to get my engine mounts and power steering rack done ASAP. Driver's side window regulator needs to be changed too along with regular maintenance like the tranny switches and tranny filter/ 1x3 fluid change.

I drove mine into work today (I usually drive a company car) since I did the timing belt and a bunch of other stuff. One of the things I replaced was the plastic shields that go under the trans and from the bumper to core support and wheel wells. Talk about a huge reduction in wind noise aroun the cowl/windsheild area. I remember when the shop screwed them up that there was more wind noise but since it's been at least 2 years I thought maybe the difference was exaggerated. It most definitely was not. The car is so much quieter going down the freeway now.

For a while, when I was so busy with work and with life and broke too, I let a bunch of little things go until they were adding up and I wasn't enjoying the car as much. Today I can honestly say it could pass for a 1yr old car easily.

I have a 2005 TL 5AT...

The original owner had it for 1 yr 11 months and did 62K miles

I bought the car on May 21st, 2007 (almost 7 years back) and she is sitting @ 179,000...~17K miles a year....

I used to do about 20-25K a year but in the past 2 years I have done only 20K miles...

Over the 117K miles, I have averaged 24.8mpg, with the best MPG for 34mpg (over long trips and not 6 miles)

So far I am in love with this car...she is perfect *knocks on wood*....all I have done is religiously maintained her and rear caliper was seized on me, so replaced that (80 bucks)...

People still cant believe when I say, she has 179-180K on the odo

dat paint condition doe

I have 96.6K now- since I had the 105K service done, I'm actually looking forward to 100K and way beyond. It's probably the best car I've ever owned. It quite literally runs like new. I love the idea of a new car, but no payments and a car with nearly 100K miles in essentially excellent condition trumps a new car with payments as well as a decent down payment. Maybe I'll be driving it for the next 20 years...who knows?

I drove less than 1000 miles on the TL this past month. It spent 2 weeks in the body shop. Had the entire front end repainted for stone damage. Changed the windshield, fog lamp and grill. They painted both fenders, bumper and hood. It looks great. I'll post some pics once I wash the damn thing....so with this winter that will be in 2 months or so.
