What Type of Spark Plugs do our cars have?
#4
Not a Blowhole
Here are the plug types from the Helm manual:
NGK: IZFR6K-11
Denso: SKJ20DR-M11
As best I can tell, the tips may be iridium, but the rest of the plug may not be designed exactly like the IK's.
I doubt there is any advantage to swapping to different plugs, which is what Peter Ubers was getting at I think - the car comes with fine plugs.
Unless Denso has gone to a completely new numbering scheme, I question whether Denso Iridium's (Iridia?) are in our cars. The Iridium I have seen all have letter schemes like IK-20, IK-22, IK-24, etc. I use IK-24's in my S2000, which is one level cooler than the stock plugs, which were platinum. But I also spend a fair amount of time in 8000 RPM land, so even slight misfiring is to be avoided.
The 2003 TL's have IK-16 listed at the Denso site.
