For those of us that need front tags.

Behind it is a ring which you can use to tow your car in case it's stuck. It's in the manual and describes the proper angle the towing car should pull your TL out.

It is used in the event the car needs to be towed or winched out of a ditch, etc.. There is a screw-in winch attachment in your trunk that is essentially a large eye-bolt that screws into the hole located behind the cutout. Then, you can attach a winch to pull the car, etc.

I didn't notice but does it have any of those tow hooks under the front bumper? My old '93 del sol have 2 of them, one in each corner. Is this tow hook meant to replace that?

You should find the hook in the trunk, which could be connected to the hole after you remove that cover...


Basically, I don't know how strong it is, it seems to bind with the bumper, not the frame. The bumper is removable, so I wonder our car can be safely towed?

Anyone knows how strong our bumper is connected to the frame?

Yes, I know that. But my question was whether this tow hook that goes into the front bumper is meant to replace the 2 under bumper hooks (one in each corner) like on my old car. Or does the TL also have those hooks under the front bumper in each corner. I'll go check my TL in a few minutes.

Also, my old del sol also had an under bumper hook at the rear in the middle. I wonder if the TL also has that. After all, if you end up in a ditch you may need to be pulled out backwards.

Why yes I am. Been playing around with my TL too much lately. I need to get another release of DCX ready soon. Droid is getting impatient. LOL!

There are no hooks under the car. The dealer told me that this system is used as the old hooks under the car have a tendency to damage the plastic on the bumper. (When the cable is pulled and the angle is to great it rips the bumper)
