What do you use to remove snow off your car?
So I normally don't like to use items such as the one below:
Since I think the bristles scratch the car. My mom, in an effort to help me out, used that thing and am worried that there are scratches everywhere (fresh bumper respray).
If you guys don't use that what do you use?

Back when I was up north, I used to take a towel and wrap it along my arm and brush off most of the snow and leave a thin coating on the car. This thin coating would blow away as I drove and wasn't hazardous and as well didn't scratch the car, only problem was a cold arm.

I think the snow on the roof is more of a problem with SUV's where there can be a LOT of snow up there and due to aerodynamics (or lack thereof) it doesn't tend to blow away slowly, but rather came come flying off en mass when they hit a bump. With the TL the snow probably blows off evenly and quickly once you start driving. I would definitely worry about clearing snow off the paint with those bristles.

i use a brush just like that and haven't really seen any scratches.
snow on the roof is a problem pretty much all the time. when it's light and fluffy it blows off the roof and impacts the driver behind you. when it's heavier it will come sliding forward off the roof and down the windshield when you hit the brakes, completely blocking your own visibility. you should always brush the snow off the roof if you can.

I usually put a couple pairs of gloves on and an enormous winter jacket and just use my hands and arms to slide it all off.
Wow you are a frigin dumbass. Do you have any idea how dangerous that is to the drivers behind you???

you sound like a 'frigin' dumbass for using the upper half of your body to get snow off your car.
i assure you i have never obstructed anyones view while driving because of an avalanche flyin off my car.

I use a brush exactly like the first one posted and I've never seen any scratches. But I only do my windows. Just don't push too hard and the bristles will definitely not scratch. I think it's illegal to leave snow on the roof because it can fall down over the windshield and obstruct your view.
You're right. Glass only if you care about your car.
Yes, this.
This is a good idea for non-glass surfaces.
I think the name calling is a little drastic. You don't know him enough to assume he's stupid enough to do anything that would endanger others. It's not an like it's an avalanche of snow... a few inches if anything. And if people are following close enough behind him in bad weather to get the snow from his car on theirs badly enough that they can't see, then they need to drive smarter anyway.

No worry. Wife's car is in the garage and when it's bad out she works from home.
And yes it's also illegal here in CT to drive with snow on your car.
And yes I hate when people don't clean off their cars. It's bad enough when the frozen snow comes flying off tractor trailers.

lol at a lot of the comments.
I primarily got snow off the windshields and windows but the mother didn't want me to get a ticket for having too much snow on the roof so she took off the snow everywhere...
She's pissed at me that I told her not to touch the car haha...

what do you think i do? drive off with a mountain of snow on my car?

Depends on the amount of snow, if it is a light dusting then i do nothing. If it is an over night accumulation of a couple inch then i'd use the brush on the back of the scrapper or my arm (wearing a coat of course) to remove a good portion of the snow on the hood, roof and trunk. I don't clear it down to the paint just the bulk of it. I can't possibly see how this would scratch the paint.

on another note, last year this guy down the street from my house had a blue E46 M3 completely buried over the roof in a snow pile at the end of his driveway all winter long. Do you think this would cause any damage?

If i had a beater, I'd probably do that too, but imo, this kinda defeats the purpose of having a garage to protect your nice car from the elements. Most people dont care too much about their car though.

Funny stuff.
And you guys that don't clean off the snow must not get much of it. I can assure you the biggest hazard isn't snow blowing off on the car behind you, but when the foot of snow you left on your roof comes sliding down your windshield when you hit the brakes after your car is warmed up.
