Type S rear bumper on a 06 base
I have an 06 with an 07 base bumper right now.. The one i have on there currently is only an 07 base bumper but the guy i bought it from had cut the exhaust outlets so that dual tips would fit, so i got the dual tips.. Then about a month later i got rear ended and of COURSE the insurance company is only willing to buy me an 06 bumper... But it wont even fit now because of the dual tips... Now im 99% sure that a type s rear bumper will fit my 06 tl, but does ANYONE know where i can get one?! I got the last one for a steal, $150, painted and it had the cutouts for the dual exhaust already... But I doubt ill get a deal like that again. Any help would be appreciated!

the type-s bumper will fit. it's exactly plug and play, uninstall old bumper install type-s bumper.
with that being said; it cost the same as the normal base bumper. body shop should have recognised this/proper communication to body shop....
with that being said; if you can find some one selling their old type-s bumper, that would be ideal.
check craigslist, ebay, the black market on here, instagram, facebook, etc.

Can you make a deal with the insurance company/body shop to just pay the difference for the S bumper?

The body shop said that the place they purchase the parts from doesnt have the type s bumper, which doesnt really make sense to me. I checked craigslist and found a guy selling an unpainted type s bumper for $80 but it has a small crack right above the right exhaust outlet, my question is, how difficult would that be to repair that little crack? or should i just get an 08 base and try cutting the exhaust outlets myself? have any of you guys done this/ know someone who has and if so was it that difficult???

body shop will be able to fix that little crack no problem. I had a little crack in my front bumper when I got it painted and they plastic welded it so it wouldn't crack the paint

like others have said, definitely talk with your body shop... they are there to work for you. You chose them to work on your car. You have the right to take your car to the body shop of your choice.
with that being said. If you are still stuck with getting a base bumper, just get a Type S A-spec lip and have them paint it along with your new base bumper.
You'll have to trim the exhaust cutouts on the bumper to make the duals fit... but the A-spec lip will cover up the cutouts on the bumper.
good luck.
