Touch up paint question?
Has anyone bought touch up paint from this guy on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...198642056&rd=1
I just bought some for my Carbon Bronze TL and my wife's silver TSX. One thing that worried me a little bit is the silver said Global Silver on it. It is NH700M. I didn't think that is is Acura called it?
Don't want to put it on the car (either one) without some sort of confirmation that someone has used it successfully in the past. THANKS!!!!

I'm wondering if getting them online is any different than getting it at my local Acura dealership parts... I have small bits of rust on the edge of the door, and I donno how to get rid of it I gotta get some touch up paint now

touch up paint is about 10 bucks at the dealer- get to know them now before you need a deal on something later!

I bought a bottle of Acura branded touch-up paint at my local Acura dealer for my KBP TL-S. When the guy at the parts counter handed it to me, I saw it stated "Reaction Blue Pearl." I was like WTF? Is that gonna match my car? And the guy explained that the colors are actually done by code for each model. KBP, MRP, ASM, etc are just marketing terms for each model. I used it on my car and it matches perfectly.
If Acura doesn't even match their names, I wouldn't expect a 3rd party to do it.
So, I wouldn't worry about the color name too much. To be safe, put a nice thick swab of paint on a piece of white paper. Let it dry and hold it up next to your car. That way you'll have some confidence before you actually put the paint on your baby.
Good luck!

Unfortunately I can't be of much help on how to use it correctly. I have only used it to cover up three really small rock chips. I just put it on there with the brush and let it dry. It doesn't look too good close up, but from even only 5 feet away, you can't even see them (they're really tiny). That's good enough for me, but could probably be a lot more professional-looking if you cared.

There should be a code in your door jab to let you know which color you need. You can use them to cover up small nicks here and there but it wont look anything like a factory finish, and you can tell its been touch up with paint.

I got a bottle of SSM paint from my dealer for $12. I used it to cover little rock/gravel chips. Ya from about 5+ feet away you can't really tell anything is there but up close you can tell it's been touched up and there really is no way to 'disguise' it unless you get it fixed professionally or I've heard of people wetsanding to make it look almost invisible... but I still dunno exactly how to do that and don't wanna screw up :/

You can stop there, but if you want it to be real perfect, you get enough touch up paint on there to make it level with the rest of the surface, apply some clearcoat (purchased separately), and then sand it down after that.
However, if the rust spots are small, and especially if it's only on the edge of doors, the first option I mentioned should do you fine. I bet you're the only one who even knows there's rust on the door edges!

OK, I have my chip touched up and it is a pretty darn good match. There is a little buildup around the edge, just a tiney big, that I would like to wet sand off. Do I wet sand before or after putting the clearcoat layers on? I am a little afraid to wet sand at all since I have never done it. Should I just leave good enough alone or go for the final step? Any advice on wet sanding without creating more damage?

wet sand with 2000 grit . . . then use a DA, yellow pad,and some compound.

Damn, this camera shows all the little details . Anyways, this happened to me and every other car down the aisle, while at a club in downtown Houston. What do ya'll suggest I do? I'm not really worried about all the little scratches, since u can't really tell unless you got your face shoved into my trunk.

Your best bet is to go aggressive to just minimize that. I would start with a rotary/cutting compound, little wet sand if you have time, or if it would help, rotary again, then polish w/ a high rpm polisher and semi aggressive final polish to remove the swirls/haze. I wouldn't go all out or even touch that up, which would make it look worse, since a repaint is most likely needed.
