Just wanted to say that and was really quite surprised. Anyways is there a way to get rid of what is stopping it from going faster?

And sadly I've only had the car for 2 months. Maybe I should trade it in. HA

Is there really a need to purchase a $30K+ car? Is there really a need to purchase a Ferrari or go on Vacation? Is there really a need? No but I still want to.

And it certainly feels like either fuel shut off or its stuck in 4th gear while in the auto position. Not sure which one but it isn't pleasant. Maybe I should put it in the M position next time?

I miss my 6 speed more and more. I only got the auto because I am having a baby in Aug. I hate priorities.

playa4real ....
did 140 mph (08 tl-s 5AT) on I-84 against a corvette tonight..

lando77 ....

My TL-S is completely rock solid with absolutely no drama at speeds above 150, however, most Autobahns are meticulusly kept and smoot to begin with. The coolest thing about the TL-S is that it pulls like a freight train till about 130, and continues to move to 150 still pretty fast. My GSR has gotten to 140 on the A63, an autobahn on the route to my house, but it is a scary ride above 120 (redline in fourth). At 120 the TL-S feels the same as doing 80 or 90.

vetalik ....

Their is a freeway that has only couple exits and is a straightaway long enough where at the end it goes down hill then straight and a slight uphill i took my TLS in SS mode and hit one fifty on the speedo. then again at that speed the speedo does lie so

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1878445

By all reports I've seen/read, the TL/TL-S is electronically limited around 150 - 155.

I would be too scared to drive it that fast on a public road.

I concur with the op and I try pretty much try once a week on an empty straight away. I can hit 130 easy, after that it creeps to 135 then no more. Doesn't feel like a fuel cut off though(I hit it at 120 in my MDX so I know how it feels because it scares the crap out of me at that speed...it doesn't just ease off the throttle it cuts it completely and car lurches...almost like it hit the brakes)...just seems to stop pulling.

I was thinking with some mods, it might change some things. Maybe I should drop the case of water and protien shakes in my trunk and see if that makes a difference...

I'll post, picture, vid, but I'd like to keep both hands on the wheel at that speed.

Yea I suppose its more like the throttle gets slammed shut lol. Maybe perhaps it has something to do with VSA? Mine was on at the time.

Same thing happened to me!

I was going around 130 a while back and it felt like I just hit the limiter. The revs went down and the car automatically went down to about 115.

What gives?

EDIT: It felt like I had hit some kind of limiter, because the car was climbing fast and then all of a sudden, it just slows down with the gas pedal all the way down.

One more thing I want to throw in there. Could it also be due to the grade logic? I was not completely on a flat surface. It was going up a slight incline but maybe one the grade logic detected. Tire pressure was 36psi up from and 33 in the rears. Stock tls wheels and crappy tires.

Congrats. My wife just had our first. Word of advice.... the Graco DLX travel system takes up more room than you would think. It fits, just don't expect to go grocery shopping with it in the car!

i have had my 1st gen up to 135 easily still pulling... so i would be disappointed if the 3rd gen was limited to that... but then again that was like 4 yrs ago since i did that and never really have to go that fast again...

Man, maybe I need to go to the coasts and get some higher octane gas, I'm limited to 91, even 90 in higher elevations......6800+ feet. My car won't slow down....it just doesn't seem like its pulling much after 135...I guess the straightaway isn't really that flat....it's more like a mountain straightaway so maybe even slight upward inclines might affect it.....don't know, maybe I need to lose weight?

as bearcat showed above..ive hit 140 minimum...i took a quick glance, i didnt want to take my eyes off the road too long trying to figure out the exact speed i was going. plus i pulled on that sorry ass of a driver of the vette didnt want to outdo him that much haha. i did it in SS mode, perhaps you should try that

..u know what.. SCRATCH THAT. don't try it, you now have at least one EXCELLENT reason (the baby on the way) not to risk hurting yourself or anyone else.

Hmm my 08 when I had the opportunity with absolutely 0 cars around on the interstate to get to 130... it wouldn't go pass that...

I'm wondering if this is related to VSA being on/off?

Here is 152 mph...

I believe this one is 6MT, regular TL. There were four people in the car. It's loaded with people and still gets upto 152 much quicker....

BTW guys I'm talking about the 5at cars. Not the ones with a 6 speed. So telling me how fast a 6 speed car does me no good or anyone else who has said the same thing with with 5at.

^ I know.

I wonder if the factory has changed the speed limiter on some of the newer 3rd gen models? Try turning off VSA and see what you get. I don't have the Auto so I can't test it myself.

im pretty sure the governer is still set at 149mph... it also depends on geographical locations... when i pushed my 06 TL, i was definitely going down hill.... if you are going uphill, or are at higher elevations....you may not be able to hit those #'s

check out TlFourPlay's video somewhere on youtube... he did 147 i think?? on the Autobahn with his 07 6MT Type S

Also Type-S and Regular trim cars might not have same top speed. Even the 6MT versions have different top speeds between the Type-S and Regular. So perhaps maybe you need to ask '07+ Type-S 5AT guys and see what they got.

Umm ok but what about your 08 tl type-s? Your 06 tl doesn't apply different car. And if you notice there are a few of us saying the same thing with the same cars.

^ I know that, honey.

But some people WILL ignore your thread topic and will post top speed of their regular TL 5AT.... If you ask only for those who own the '07 or '08 Type-S 5AT then you may get better results. It's just a thought. I wasn't interrogating you...... trust me. it's safe here.

i think its foolish.. everybody should try it once if they want too.... but once you reach a certain age, you just find it dangerous and foolish. if i was to ever max out my car again, i would assure that i would at least not have any OTHER people in my car. no need to endanger other peoples lives

Quick Reply: Top Speed of stock 07 TL type-s 5at is 132-133mph
