TL Type-S maintenance
Hey what maintenance would you guys recommend at 59k miles? I’m doing trans fluid change oil change and coolant change. Since it’s 12 years old is why I’m doing maintenance. Maybe power steering? Any ideas appreciated.

The inconvenient truth
Kind of depends when things were changed last. If you don't know then it's not a bad idea to change all fluid and filters.

I'd definitely recommend changing your timing belt. The recommended service interval is 105,000 miles OR 84 months, whichever comes first according to the service manual. If you live somewhere that gets very hot (above 110F) or very cold (below -20F), the manual suggests replacing the timing belt every 60,000 miles.

^^^^Show me where the SM or OM says "or 84 months"....
and the temperature caveat is if the vehicle is regularly driven under those conditions... and there's no where in North American where that would happen

Yup, more or less. Basically you wait for the service minder to display either A4 or B4 and then do the belt, tensioner, water pump, and idler. To that I'd add the serpentine belt and its tensioner, the front main oil seal, and the front camshaft seals. Resealing the oil pump is also not a bad idea when you're in there.

Your timing belt tensioner will shit the bed long before your timing belt will. It's happened to me at 70k miles where the tensioner slowly leaks its fluid out and then you hear the tap-tap-tap of the tensioner pulley slapping against the piston of the tensioner.

The job is pretty simple:
- Open the drain plug and drain out the MTF (best if you do it while the transmission is warm).
- Close the drain plug and open the side plug or open the top fill plug, and pour in 2.3 quarts of ACDelco Synchromesh Friction Modified manual transmission gear lube.
- Close the fill plug or the side plug (depending upon which you chose to fill the transmission).
You're done.
