I think there is a glitch in the search tool as its not returning anything but need this info pretty quickly as I'm about to make the purchase. I appreciate any info/feedback.

Basically I have a 04-06 TL and am contemplating on whether to get the TL-S rear under body spoiler lip for. My understanding is that this fits but needs modification. Can someone please explain exactly what needs to be done and how this will look with the stock 04-06 exhaust? I believe this info is in the garage e121 but I'm not sure how to access this info.

Also, will the TL-S under body side skirts fit on the 04-06 TL w/o modification? I believe these are more flared and noticeable then the Aspec side skirts.

the rear lip will look ok, but better if you can find the right one or buy a wider exhaust. you have to cut the base bumper in a few places, on being the exhaust openings, and then the lip cover attaches over the bumper and will hide the cuts you made. the only issue is the hole will be wider than the exhaust and wont look all that great. i say dont do it unless you plan on getting the ATLP quads or type-s exhaust.

the sides are just a guess, but i know the type-s sides are more flared than the base sides, but the aspec sides are the same for all models (thats the part that is a guess but i am almost 95% certain they are the same)

thanks for the info. ill just go with the Aspec rear but for the sides - you're saying the TL-S body kit sides are the same as the TL A spec sides?

aspec is what they call any of the "add on" pieces...kinda. its actually the whole body kit, the suspension, the wheels..etc, but thats another story. the type-s body kit is an aspec kit and i am 95% sure the aspec sides are the same for all TL years 04-08.

the Type S kit front and rears are different from the 04-06 A spec kit. So you are saying the side skirts for the Type S kit and the 04-06 Aspec kit are identical? I dont think thats true - there are vendors selling these kits seperately.

I can't tell from a visible stand point that there is a differences between the sides on the 04-06 to the 07-08 type s.

The front type-s can work, from what i've read you have to mods some areas around where fogs would go..and you have cutting/dremel for the rear to fit...and like what has been mentioned you would want to get the exhaust to go with it; I saw a post of "weld quads" in photography area..and it looked real good for a cheap fix.

Can anyone confirm if the TL-S ASPEC side skirts will fit a 04-06 TL? My understanding is that the TL-S ASPEC side skirts are more flared out then the 04-06 TL ASPEC side skirts.

All the a-spec side skirts are the same for 04-08 tl's. I know I have owned an 04 and currently have an 07 tl-s, the a-spec skirts will fit any tl 04-08 tl-s or not. Front and rear spoilers is a differrent story.

Ok, so the Apsecs side skirts are the same for all models, but what about base side skirts? I have a 2004 TL. The clear coat and first layer of paint are coming off of both side skirts. I have no idea why. Defective ? I do go to the carwash like 3x per week, but I don't think that should cause any problems. Anyways, I have a 2004, and I want to know if 07-08 base side skirts will fit on mine. thanks

There are 3 different versions of side skirts for the TL, stock Base, stock Type-S and A-Spec. Hopefully this will help illustrate the differences:

Base stock side skirts (04-08):

Type-S stock side skirts:

Base A-spec side skirts:

Type-S A-spec side skirts (same as base):


As you can see the stock Base and Type-S side skirts are different but the A-spec side skirts are the same for both models.

I don't think you understood my question. I'm wondering if 2007-2008 BASE side skirts fit on a 2004 BASE TL.

07-08 BASE side skirts are the same as 04-06 BASE side skirts.. emphasis on BASE..
07-08 TYPE S side skirts are a bit more flared than BASE.. but to my understanding WILL FIT on all BASE TL's, with no problem.. and hopefully thats the case because i'm planning on buying Type S side skirts to replace my base ones..

i have a question to i have a 06 base but i did the type s rear lip but i was woundering how to cover the grill part on the bottom of the lip. i have a open space right there.

The side skirts might have been a repaint with not so good prep. My clear was wearing in the top edge of the drivers side but that was more from my pant leg rubbing on it while I was getting out.

As far as the car wash goes they do use harsh chemicals , thats how they clean as well as they do. Even tho they are hard on the paint and will remove wax but not cause the clear to come off just in one spot.

Heck if you were closer you could have my 06 base side skirts , just taking up space in my basement. Too bulky to ship.

I considered putting TLS sideskirts on mine for a while but ended up going with Aspec side skirts. I'm glad I did, they just look great.

Plus the Aspec ones come painted and the TLS ones don't, so by the time you paint them to match they are 2+ times as expensive.

Yeah, I wish I was closer too. Thanks for the offer. There's a guy on here selling his 2007 or 2008 base side skirts for $70 shipped. I don't think that's too bad of a price.

I'm glad to know that the carwash isn't taking off my clear coat because I love to keep my car clean, and just signed up for the unlimited wash club. I don't go to a gas station car wash either. It's a really nice one, so I think I should be fine. I'm not sure why they would have been repainted, but it's a possibility. Although, I don't think the car has ever been wrecked.

Um, well my post was actually more directed towards the OP who asked about TL-S side skirts.

But since you asked, yes the 07-08 side skirts will fit the 04-06, because the same side skirts were used on base models for every year of the 3G TL (notice I captioned the picture as "base 04-08").

All the side skirts are interchangeable anyways, you can put Type-S side skirts on a base too if you want.
