TL exhaust tips: Is it possible to move the polished tips out about 1"?

I know this may seem like a stupid question, but indulge me. I've been looking at many pics on this site and noticed that when equipped with the OEM Bodykit the tips don't stick out enough. They are barely noticable IMO. I know certain TSX owners who have said the same thing about their exhaust tips and have actually moved them out a bit to be more noticable/prominent. I was wondering if it's possible to do the same on the TL.

The tips are part of the exhaust, I guess you could cut and extend them, that could work.

With money, anything's possible. As Norse396 mentioned, I think it's the only way. From what I see in the diagram from "www.acuraautomotiveparts.org", the muffler dimensions, joints, bends, and hanger locations won't allow you to work anywhere in front of the muffler. You'll probably need to work from the tip side. Cut off the tip cleanly between the muffler and reweld it back together with an extension.

Many things may go wrong too. The tip could be welded on slanted and look funny against the bumper's openings after installation. The technician doing it might also melt your bumper. It's a high temperature surgery in a small location.

Goodluck. If you do successfully do it, post some pics.

Do what I am going to do this weekend:

I'm gunna hack saw the tips off cleanly, and add aftermarket bolt-on exhaust tips that will be dual-tips on each left and right side, and they'll be flush w/ the kit (though the kit is at an angle, at least the tips will stick out enough).

Update: The pipes coming off the muffler are not perfectly straight .. in fact they're outright curved to match the inlet location for the tips. You cannot add a bolt-on tip to this pipe w/o have a severely misaligned tip. The only hope now is a weld-on tip, but that'll cost more time & money.

I've decided to leave it.

Good. The TL doesn't even need a dual exhaust, let alone a quad exhaust :P

Heck No! EVERY car needs at least a dual exhaust. The symmetry given by a left and right tip completes the rear end.
