After reading a lot of you guy's experience with Hamilton, I decide to drive up and do my timing belt this weekend. (96K now for my 06TL, and their special is gonna be till the end of this month)

I called them and the service manager told me it's gonna be 498 dollars for acuras(100 dollars more than the regular honda special plus the 98 dollars tensioner)

I also heard it's always a good idea to also replace both idler and adjuster pulley. So I just order the parts online with overnight shipping (still much cheaper than my local acura dealer's price)

I ordered the two parts: 14550-RCA-A01 (idler pulley) 14510-RCA-A01 (adjuster pulley) and plan to bring them to hamilton.

Am I missing anything else?

Just wanna ask you guys, is it really that necessary to replace these two extras, how much extra labor is reasonable for them to charge to replace these two extra pulleys?

For the past 2 years, I've heard the "...til the end of this month." I'll say this, Hamilton probably has done the 105k service on a more TLs than you can imagine. The special has been very lucrative and it's not likely to end, reason...owners will just do the service in their home area/state than make the trek to Hamilton.

Hamilton,? I am going to want to change the timing belt in mine in the next couple months and if this is anywhere close to me, it is for sure worth the trip to save 400-500 bucks.

Snugs, you may want to surf the Honda/Acura dealers' websites within a few hundred miles of you (or whatever distance you're comfortable driving). IIRC, TX deals have popped on here on (rare) occasion. Maybe someone in the Houston-Dallas/Ft.Worth-San Antonio triangle is running a year-end special?

Their deal is definitely gonna end next year, I talked to one of the managers and he told me they were really not making money on the service and it has been years.

It's either 105K or 7 years.

It depends on how much ur local dealer is gonna charge.

My local dealer is asking around 1000-1500, FYI

Summerayu, I went to Hamilton Honda 3 weeks ago and paid $629.14 out the door for my 06 TL, just timing belt and tensioner. Still saved almost $400 over going to an Acura dealer near me.

I just did it two days ago, the same price.

I brought in my own idler and adjuster pulley and they didn't charge additional labor for that.

So it's 630 in total

Did they replace the water pump also? Just curious as this morning my local dealer said if the water pump isn't leaking then don't replace it. He gave me an estimate of $500-$600 for timing belt and labor.

Always replace the water pump when you have this kind of service. Parts aren't too much more and you've already paid most of the labor just to get in there. Water pumps have a finite life and most likely won't last as long as the engine.

When I was there 2 years ago (when it was $398+$75 for the hydraulic tensioner), the service manager told me they were breaking even on this deal and were only promoting it to get people in the door as the dealership was only open about a year and a ½ at the time.

They must have gotten smart and started charging more for Acuras.

I did mine there in February and it was $498 out the door for the full service including the tensioner. That also included a loaner car for 2 days. I think I put more than 500 miles on that loaner car.

When I left I told the service agent to put me in the books for the next TB service in 2 years. She laughed....I didn't.

OK, I got back from Hamilton Honda.

The total bill for Timing belt is 620 (490+98 tensioner + tax)
I asked them to put the adjuster pulley and idler pulley (I bought them from acuraoemparts.com for 120 bucks) and they didn't charge any labor for that.

Yes, they started to increase the timing belt price for acura since Dec and they said they will not run this special after this month.

I just dropped of my 05 TL at Hamilton for the timing belt "special". It is now $649+$98 for the tensioner. The coupon on their website is for 449 but they told me it doesn't apply to Acuras.

Has anyone else recently paid the same amount or am I being taken for a ride?

I guess all good things must end sooner or later. Still a good price at ~800 with tax, but probably not worth a 3-4 hr road trip anymore.

Whitebear Acura did my 02 CL-S for $1000 and that included all of the tensioners. Add another $500 for A/C repair and then $600 for engine mounts and then $140 for leaking sender unit, $35 for oil change and $20 for a rad cap. total came to be just under $2,400 which was the orignal quote for T-belt A/C and engine mounts. The rest was tax and shop supplies

why does it need another service?

IT should not cost any extra labor wise for the pump as i am sure it comes off to get to the belt.

My dealer told me I could go 10 years or 120K. that is pretty much what I did except for 11 years and 118K

Hamilton jus quoted me $650 over the phone, $290 for valves and a whopping $350 for plugs!!! That plug price seems a bit steep, maybe they don't like doing them?

It won't need one until the end of next year. I do about 40K miles a year. When I did the service last year I asked the service chick at Hamilton if they will still have the same deal in 2 years. She said she see no reason they will not. So....when I'm due I'll call and ask.

They definitely raised their price then. I got the $399 special last year with extra $75 for the tensioner.

Bummer. I noticed my 07 hit 95k today and decided to start researching and planning the TB service so I knew what the deal was. Then I see that the Hamilton deal is pretty much dead.

Is it still a good value as I would only be driving about an hour south west to hamilton or should I look else where? Maybe a local mechanic in the Central NJ area.
