I've seen Eric photoshop stuff on the TLX, so I have no doubt he can photoshop some lights on his car

I do understand what you mean up to a point. But you are still "modifying the mod" or adapting it for the TL. So the concept might be based on something else, but on the 3G TL, I'd call it original.
Think of the very first person who blacked/cleared out headlights. I don't know who that person is exactly, and I'm sure that is debatable. We can say; "well people have been baking headlights to open them for years before that." But think about that first person's task on the 3G. The risk involved on expensive headlights. They had no real DIY to follow, just a concept. So there are steps involved that are totally uncharted territory because you have to figure out step by step how to proceed. I call that a pioneer. We're all smart and think we can figure most things out ourselves. But that is a special kind of smart and that person goes through extra pain for the mod. While I'm sure I could have figured out how to do the majority of my mods myself (except the navi "OK hack" and custom splash screen. haha I wouldn't have figured that one out in 5000yrs, lol) I'll admit I would have easily taken DOUBLE the time if I didn't have pics, tips and guidance.
I can also tell you I have seen MANY people copy my mods when I go to meets. I parked at a store once and came out and saw another TL parked next to me. I kid you not, I never thought I would see a TL that was nearly a carbon copy of mine haha. The wheels were slightly off, that's about it. But to me it's like OK wow so AZIne has really influenced us all.
A girl gets annoyed if someone is wearing the same dress. It's like an insecurity...."Hmm does she look better in it that I do??" Come on guys, get it together! You think you got the best car out there? You go, you! haha. Someone copy you, so what? Be flattered. You are still the original!
Yes it's a small, silly, but nice thing to have bragging rights to be the first. So I can understand how someone keeps things under wraps WHILE they are still modding (like wojo is.) But if you are already DONE with the mod, post it!! Why wouldn't you? You'll get props. And whoever copies after you, even to the paint or last screw; good. Is everything in life a competition or race? I don't get it.

I could care less about competition unless you mean at an autocross or track event.
On a side note I have done a good amount of DIY threads on 2g cl forum. I don't mind helping others out, but I understand why some don't.

If you give ppl step by step instructions for everything in life then they will never use their brains and figure things out themselves. It isn't rocket science.

But if your personality is more of a creative type, guidance helps you be prepared, gives you the confidence to start it off, and gives you reference when you get stuck. You really save time because there are some things that definitely would take longer without the smart tips. (Even if it isn't rocket science.) And as you progress you figure out how you can put your own twist or variation on it. Like I mentioned most of my mods are a slightly different version of the DIY even though its based on the same general concept of the DIY.
The second thing to keep in mind is that most modders are "generally handy" to different degrees. Some are starting out, some are at advanced levels. The DIY helps those that are starting out. And as they start small they get the confidence to go to bigger and more advanced things. There's a couple members who I did a few mods for back in the day as they were starting out. Today their abilities are advanced and pretty impressive.
Third thing to keep in mind is that nobody is good at everything, I don't care how smart anyone thinks they are. There are some people up on here that really have talents and knowledge in certain areas at lighting, some at stereos, some with engines, some with suspensions etc. That's what all these subsections are about and you will really read info from people that know their stuff in their "area" and how much they post in their specialty. You won't see them post everywhere. (The exception is Justin, that guy is just everywhere ) I'm "generally handy" but what if I wanted to mod or do maintenance in an area I am not familiar with? The DIY is invaluable. It broadens a person's abilities and knowledge. I can pass that on, help, or advise someone else. But as long as I don't know something, all I can do is shrug my shoulders; I can't help myself or anyone else.
And no I don't understand anyone that keeps stuff to themselves. I can't relate to it because it is selfish and all about ego. Someone that contributes nothing is useless to everyone. So why come to a forum then? To show off? That's cardomain.com. This is a place for discussion and dissemination of information. Not a place for competition, making one feel better about themselves or compensating for insecurities.

Nearly every facet of improvement - be it of science, medicine, pedagogical analysis or anything intended for greater good, has relied upon a fundamental baseline from which the emergent model can provide greater transparency in understanding the means to the end.
We're on this forum to satiate a base need for our fundamentally inanimate objects to looked shinier and nicer, THAT'S ALL.
So, please, humor me...what in the sam hell is accomplished, pursuant to this end, by withholding information?

So on the headlights I made a custom left and right adjustment from the adjustors cut off the mdx headlight. I welded them onto the 3g light. I used the stock up and down adjustment on the 3g light and cut a custom bracket to attach that to the jewel eyes. The pivot point is made on the bottom of the light and is welded to the housing. I have also trimmed the shrouds and everything fits in nicely..... and very tight.
At this point I just need to finish up the turn signal reflector. Mine will be black because I run v3 switchback tritons. I also just need to close up the rear of the light and connect the wiring harness together.

Fuck yes.
That is all.
PS, do a light test before blacking out the reflector for signal...even with the brightest LED bulb around, it will affect if it looks like the whole thing is lighting up for a really bright bulb sitting behind the diffuser.
