Here is what I did:
I removed the front bumper.. once you get the front bumper off you will see how to remove the grill.. there are a few screws and clips to get the grill off.. then I removed the "A" emblem on the grill. 2 Screws hold that on.. then I sanded the grill with I think 600 grit sand paper.. wiped it down.. then cleaned it with alcohol and let it air dry.. this is to help clean the surface of any oils that could mess with the paint sticking... I then sprayed it with Duplicolor adhesion promotor. I followed the directions on the spray can. Do light coats!! I think I did 2 coats.. this is to help prevent paint chips and help the paint stick. Then I sprayed it with the Duplicolor trim paint. Again with light even coats. I did about 3-4 coats.. This paint dries very evenly and doesn't need clear coat. I have used it to paint side skirts and other parts of my other cars and it looks like paint they use from the factory. Never had a problem with this paint chipping or falling off. Make sure you prep it so the paint will last longer!

Good Luck and pm me if you have any questions!

BTW, Here is a pic of the trim paint:

Here is a pic of the adhesion promoter:

The more important question, where you'll get the most response, is what color is your TL and what color are you painting the grill? I'm going to be doing this soon as well.

IMO go to a specialist and get it painted matched to your car, they color code it so its perfect, ithink that would look tight on a nbp or kbp

Here is a copy of a thread I made on preludeonline.com about my TL and grille options... These cars are from members on here.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, so it's time to officially start modding the TL. Its a 2004 in NBP. Well, my ASPEC body kit will be installed tomorrow or Wednesday. Once I get that done, I am scheduled to have some paint work done. I am having a professional fix all of my rock chips, and then do a 4 stage cut/buff.

So while it was there at the shop I figured I would go ahead and do the grille modding...

Here is my stock front/grille (no apsec)

Also notice the different pieces. 1 silver piece on the hood, 1 silver "V" on the bumper, 1 silver horizontal bar that holds the badge, and then the darker gray inside piece.

Here are the choices...

1. "Floating 'A'" - All pieces body matched NBP, center bar removed, mesh added. He also has the aspec front lips which is usually two toned. He had the gray area body matched as well. This is my favorite but this would require cutting/bondo which I don't really want to do.

2. All Black. My second favorite, this would be the easiest to do. Notice the aspec front lip, but he left it two-toned.

3. All Black + Chromed lower grille line. Similar to the Type-S lower grille.

4. Chromed Stock... This is pretty much stock but instead of silver, it's all chromed out. I generally don't like chrome, but this doesn't look too bad...

Discuss...

I like the #3....

But seriously, wouldn't be nice to be all black and matte black Emblem would sick....

I really would like to see someone with that configuration...

Also the back, Back Emblem, Acura and TL in matte black with Type-S untouched
