Thinking about a 2008 tl type s
I've been looking for almost a month and found one I really like. just need a little help. It is red with black interior and auto. Has 5k miles and they are asking 30K. The car is spotless. Is this a good deal? Are there any "problem" areas I should be looking for?

Have you ever owned an Acura?
And 30k for a used 08 is about the range you'll be looking at.
If you can afford it & really want it then go bargin with them.
If the #'s dont work out tell them and keep looking. If they want
to sell it they will try to bargin with you.
Hell I had to go over my car salesmans head & talk to his Boss
to get a deal done on my TL.

JL, it sounds pretty good. You might be able to get a better price on this because everyone is hurting to sell cars right now. But remember, the Redondo Red Pearl is a very rare color TL and a great looking Type S. There are no problem areas. But if you like it, don't let it get away. See if you can bargain with them some more.

30k for an 08 Type S with such low mileage is a great deal. I paid $26.5k + tax for my 07 with 10k miles last month and I couldn't get it for any lower. Most of the used Type S's in my area have 30-40k miles on them.
I have kbp color but I also love that red. IMO those are the best 2 colors for this car.

Excellent
$15,100
Good
$14,200
Fair
$12,700
if you still owe more than $15k, and your car is in Excellent cond
this is what your looking at for a trade in.
In short you wont get much for a trade-in at a dealership.
You will probably be adding more $$$ on top of the 30K (guessing for 08 S)

Last November I picked up a 08 Type-S with 3k miles on it for 31k+ tax. It really depends on your location. At that time there weren't many Type-S cars available, but now there's quite a few so the prices are under 30k. Good luck and enjoy. One of the best cars I've ever owned.

I'm selling my '07 Type S 6 MT with only 17K miles for about 28.5K. By the way, the color is Moroccan Red Pearl and not Redondo Red. Beautiful car with the tan interior.

Try to bargain a bit more, there are ZERO problem areas with the type-s, i got mine a week ago, 07 kbp with 20k miles for 24,500, im sure you can bargain them down some. Like many have said, its hard to move cars right now, if their not willing to bargain, walk, the right car will come along. Good luck, and when you do get it, you'll love it.

I would ask the dealer, why anyone should by a used car these days?
I believe the stimulus package that was just passed is giving pretty good incentives to buy new. I believe you will be able to deduct the tax you paid on the car and any interest.
Also, with the economy so bad, every ones jobs are in question, and no one should really be making a big purchase.
I am not saying I wouldn't buy a used car. Just try to use some of these points when you are negotiating.
I think the dealers are still ridiculous and are barely coming down on the TL prices from a year ago, when they should be.

OP i would jump on it ESPECIALLY if it is exactly what you want!! dont let it get away.
on another note, im hoping to trade in my car later this year (and probably get nothing for it) and finance a TL-S since i have roughly half the amount saved up for a lower priced one.
would you guys be able to guess what the prices should be around by say august of this year with the economy staying bad??
do you think i can get one with say about 30k miles or less but great condition for less than or roughly 20k? or am i dreaming...
sorry for the highjack.

I faced the same situation. I couldn't even get a loan so I bought my TL Type S cash last month for $28k OTD. Now I kinda regret it b/c my business isn't doing as well and I didn't want to tie up that much cash. The best rate I could get on a used car loan was like 7.9% and no bank would let me take out a Home Equity loan since my new home value has now dropped below the purchase price despite it was worth nearly double its value 1.5 years ago. Florida housing market took a dive real badly.
I should have bought a used Civic until this condition passed us
