Supercharged 5AT TL surpasses 100,000 miles!!!
That's right folks. You read it correctly. I have successfully put over 100,000 miles on my 04 5AT TL and no detrimental engine failures or issues so far. The supercharger went on the car at 45,000 miles and the odometer now reads 100,086. I took at picture when it was at 99,999 and 100,000.
I still love this car the same as i did when i bought it on may 13, 2004 with 10.7 miles on the odometer. The new car smell is certainly long gone!
This transmission is rather strong in my opinion, and i haven't been extremely nice to her.
Anyone else with high mileage 5AT's?

I have 63k miles on my 04 5AT ... not necessarily high mileage .. but I'm racking up the miles very quickly. I bought it when it had 58k, that was 2 months ago.

My 06 has 51K on it and so far so good. Been running Amsoil's heavy duty trans fluid meant for Allison transmissions. This just reinforces what I've believed all along. The transmission is not weak. I haven't seen an auto actually break. They wear out, probably from overheating the fluid.

It's funny, when shit breaks we all go whine and tell everyone. But when things are going well, no one says a thing. So just because you see some people have tranny issues in the 3rd GEN doesn't mean its a common problem.
Referring to the previous thread about the 3rd Gens and this thread....
Ok, I'll quit my ranting haha.

Congrats
I was getting a little worried when I saw some other threads indicating that the 3rd gen 5AT may have problems.
I'd have to say that my '07 5AT is somewhat of a slushbox. Dealer tells me they know of no way to firm up the shifts. IMO: slippage=heat=failure.
Sport mode doesn't seem to help much.

Hopefully everyone's 5AT tranny will survive as mine has done. I'm not sure how it's still functioning but it is! I'm very satisfied with it and it's been a good one. When the failure point comes i will not be surprised.
godfather2... Yes i'm still heading up there for the weekend. You said you have satyurday off work, correct? If so you should definitely look into joining us at the event...!! just let me know bro,

Congrats Eric!! At this rate, you'll see 200k in that car...which is surprising because I've riden with you ! The funny thing is, you got your car two weeks before I got mine, but I only have 26,800 miles on mine...you do some serious driving.

Congrats though
I just think its kinda cluncky and clumpsy when I slowly accelerate, when I'm driving a bit faster I don't feel it.

Nate @ Comptech told me between 80-100K.
I found my motor on www.car-part.com
Eric, give me a call. My mom's bf found a great deal on a motor w/ 22K after I bought mine.

Congrats, ACCURATEin!
You are definitely an inspiration to the 3G TL fam (of which I still consider myself a member even though I moved on).

Boy do I feel green. I bought a 07 TL-s when it first hit the stores s year ago and just hit 9k . I know honda made good cars to last but a SC at 100k is impressive My wife 2000 tl has 130k and still running strong even though the trans was changed once.

For once, I am thinking about doing a mod that will actually add weight.
Seriously, what would be a rough estimate of how much weight the s/c would add ? I am thinking maybe 50 lbs.
I am currently working on a secret "TL Diet" deletion that will be completed in two months. This mod will be the biggest weight reduction to date, and it will appear at the very top of my "itemized list of weight reduction".
So, I am placing my sights on a new project. The s/c would kick some major butt combined with the TL Diet.

If you buy the supercharger make sure you get the Hondata reflash, that gives an additional 50whp and 40wtq, it'll help with any surging issues you may have.
Are you going to do a full carbon fiber body? If you do I would like to know who did your work, because I would like a CF roof. I'm thinking of looking for anyone who does that kind of work and have them do a custom job. 20lbs or more is what I want.

If i remember correctly, the UPS sticker said the box was 40 lbs. But at the same time you have to go from a large battery to the smaller RSX sized battery, so the net is probably 25 extra lbs. But you have a braille battery already so you will gain 40 lbs with the blower.
You will croak when i post pictures of my girl's diet. She is emaciated!
