Suggestions for good LED license plate lights?

I got the ebay Chinese special for the interior, and they work great - minus the two license plate bulbs, which both now flicker and remain mostly off...

Just wondering if anyone had any good recommendations.

Thanks!

I can't recommend the "18SMD direct fit for Honda/Acura" enough.

Endlessrpm has them, and ebay has them.

I have had these on my car for over 4 years without any issues. They are bright and appear pure white without any blue tint. The dispersion is very broad. The price is per bulb so they are a little more expensive.

Amazon Amazon

I've had issues with cheaper surface-mount LEDs eventually burning out (one by one on multi-LED setups). Those were purchased from https://www.superbrightleds.com/

You can get those for about $10/bulb at any Autozone/Advance Auto/Orielly.

I've been using those:
Amazon Amazon
for the past year. So far none of them went bad, and I'm using them everywhere I can (dome lights, door lights, above sun visor, and license plate). Also gave away couple to other people.

Can't beat the price, but they will need a little bit of work to fit in the license plate light housing. I unbent the metal tabs and pulled that white plastic piece away from LEDs, they cut top part of white housing, and put bulbs back together.
Then you bend metal tabs back and cut excess.

Light is nice and warm, just like standard bulbs, but they are more reliable and use less power. If you are aiming for white light, just pick any other 194 type light bulb.

I have the ones from EndlessRPM as well and the light quality is great.

One of mine does not stay clipped in though. It's almost as if there isn't anything for it to clip into? It's not rocket science, but I'm wondering why only one does this? Anyone else have any issues with this?

Mine came in the mail yesterday and I installed them last night, and I coincidentally ran into the same thing!

During installation, the first (left) one mounted easily, I popped both sides in and secured the clip to the frame of the trunk. The second one however (the right side) didn't give me that same "pop" in before securing the clip. I know they are supposed to both slide in place to the left to mount (the OEM ones say slide right to remove on them). I used a small tap and rubber mallet to push them both left and hopefully secured them. They seem good, I doubt any water will get in that thick seal. Either way, the light quality and position is great! Definitely worth it without having to pay a premium price.

Gosh, I hate to ask, but can you take a picture of how they look? I'm wondering if mine are backwards because I don't recall ever getting a "pop" when trying to install them. I remember trying both ways and neither way felt fully secure.

If standing at the back of the vehicle and looking up at the lights, the clip should be on the left (driver's side)?

I'll try to take a picture when I get home, but I know If I'm looking at the back of the car, with the trunk up looking at the lights, both of the triangle-shaped clips were on the right side lol. Not saying yours are backwards but when I installed mine last night, the oem ones had the triangle clips on the right side as well. I'll get back to you once I get a pic. For all I know, mine are the ones that are backwards haha.

I'll catch shit for this recommendation, but, whatever. I've been running the below lights for almost 3 years and they've been great. They were a few bucks cheaper when I bought them. Output is bright white but not to the point where it washes out your plate.

Mine were also installed the same way, but neither of them are able to "clip" in place. I am perplexed.

If you wanted OEM fitment, you could remove the LED board from the aftermarket clear housing and glue it into the OEM one (left part in your picture).
This is what I had to do for a friend's Crosstour because the ones I bought from iJDMToy broke. The triangle clip (left most clip in your pic) was so brittle and snapped.
NEVER buy the ones from iJDMToy, the ebay ones and endlessrpm ones were way better.

The only difference besides fitment is that the aftermarket lens is clear and the OEM one has a diffused texture.

My OEM housing is so gross and not worth saving lol. Decent idea though...

Type S = 18 SMD direct fit

Base = Some clearance bulb i got from Vled awhile back lol.

I don't know how long the 18 SMD direct fit hold up to weather as the Type Slow sit in the garage most of the time now.
