Strut Brace flange nut part number

Does anyone know what the part number is for the flange nut for the strut brace? I stripped one of the 6 when removing the brace to change my spark plugs. I honestly did try to search here, but to no avail. Thanks!

I thought about going to the hardware store, but thought it was some kind of special flange nut. Thanks for the advice, I did use a 12 point socket which is why it stripped the nut.

8mm thick. Definitely a 12mm socket removes those. Pick some up at the hardware store, a nut is a nut! Mine were rusted to bad, I snapped a few studs. One way to remove it!

I don't understand why they ever used 12 points...
I like OEM hardware but in a pinch, 10.9 at home depot will do.

^ you also cut your springs.... must have been in a pinch!

12-point allows you more angles to get at the nut...

If you buy hardware for a car at local stores, it needs to be GRADE 8 minimum! Most bolts/nuts on the car are made past GRADE 8 standards, perfect example are the bolts for the lower shocks!

Personally, I use 6 point sockets for almost everything now, 12 point can go and strip itself!

10.9 was what I saw stamped on most suspension related bolts so I stuck with at least that!

I remember seeing this thread before I tried to remove my strut bar and I still stripped 2 nuts. I did use a 12 point socket, my 6 point I needed a 3/8 to 1/4 adapter and broke that.

OP how did you get the nuts off you stripped, I wound up doing the spark plugs without removing the strut brace, wasnt too bad. Oreilys automotive didnt have the right size tool for me to get the stripped nut off, they had an 10mm and a 13mm.

could soak them in PB blaster, pound a smaller socket on them and break them loose that way? When I was taking mine off, I stripped 2 as well. I was able to take a dremel and cut a slit in the stripped nut and was able to get a flat head in there and tap it with a hammer to spin it off.

I'm not sure that's necessarily the case unless there are 12.9 suspension bolts. Metric class 10.9 is essentially equivalent to Grade 8 in tensile strength (within 0.5% IRRC).

But yeah, I'd assume Grade 8 would work fine as a replacement in this case...

Large vice grips? Pound an 11mm socket onto the stripped nut??

These nuts are only supposed to be torqued to 16 ft-lbs? How the hell are people managing to strip these nuts?

I used a 6 point deep socket, lightly hammered it on the stripped nut and luckily was able to loosen it. My next problem was removing the nut from the socket after I got it off which required me to clamp it down and hammer it out. Messed up the socket but it can be replaced.

mine weren't rusted but because I used a 12 point socket and the nut was "soft"

Thats exactly what I said to myself, they are not that tight why the hell cant I loosen them? Mine werent rusted either but with some hammering on them the others came loose. I also had a 12 point socket, last time I use that!

You're in the wrong forum, you ought to ask this in the 4g TL forum here https://acurazine.com/forums/4g-tl-2009-2014-123/

They should be 14mm wrench size...

so M8 thread size since its JIS
Thread spacing is 1.25

So...

Its a M8x1.25mm, JIS small wrench, smooth flange nut

try bellmetric.com for zinc plated steel nuts that are made to the same as factory (OEM) standards.

They don't have Ti fasteners. For that, you'll want dressupbolts.com

Don't use stainless
and don't use fasteners with knurled/saw tooth flanges
