2008 TL Base Auto vs Type S Auto - Power??

There's a few 2008 TL's on sale near me. All are auto transmission.

I did read a lot about this, but I can't seem to find a straight answer on how much faster a Type -S auto is versus the base auto?

So so who wins auto base vs auto type s 0-60? And by how much? Can u feel the difference?

The black on black type s on sale has 98,000 miles and the white on black base has 66,000 miles. Both are 2008. I rather go with the base for low mileage if the type s isn't a huge difference "performance" wise.

Any help is appreciated and yes I'm well aware of the cosmetic differences and suspension etc between the 2 but I'm simply focusing on performance here. Would the type s auto kill the the base from a standstill?

I almost bought a 2013 base TL the other day but couldn't get used to the design so I'm now in the 3G models.

The type s two tone leather interior and red lighting would be something I would need to get used to though lol.

Thanks again.

And just as an "aside" I test drove a 2010 tSx v6 auto and it was pretty quick. I couldn't get a good deal on it though. I'm wondering if its quicker than a base TL. There's only 1 TSX V6 on sale in a 100 mile radius from me. Lol.

The tsx will be on par with the TL type-s Auto....as both have 3.5l engines....
the 2008 base TL has a 3.2l engine...

yes, the TSX and the Type-s will both be quicker than the base 3.2l engine

i find that all the cars accelerate from 0-60 about the same...with whoever gets the jump, wins....
it's when they are "street racing" from a roll is where you'll see the TSX and Type-S out accelerating the base....
because Vtec just kicked in, Yo!

Base AT vs Type S AT the Type S will kill the base TL in any scenario (performance wise). I own both car (see my sig below), the Type S is slightly faster that extra 28 HP and 23 TQ can be felt using the butt dyno. 07-08 Base TL suspension has been soften to soak up bump where the Type S will hide the FWD heavy VERY well but it will be annoying when the road get choppy.

Slightly faster = ? I think the Type S is probably at max 1 sec faster from 0-60 than the Base? I'm talking everyday driving here, not racing lol..

Ok, wrong type of words. I want something with good pickup from a stop light or stop sign from getting on a ramp, etc. I'm sick of cars passing me in regular day driving..just want something "peppy"..I hope that's worded better..I guess I judge "pep" by 0-60..and I shouldn't?

I wouldn't be racing the car..I just want to know with everyday driving, will I notice a performance difference in base vs type s..auto.

Both of the TLs you're looking at will be significantly quicker in day-to-day driving compared to the Altima; compared to the E550, not so much.

I recently ran across a site listed some 0-60 times for some of the various flavors/vintages of the 3G TL (sorry, I wrote down the times but don't have the link):
  • 2004 TL Automatic: 6.6 seconds
  • 2007 TL Automatic: 7.0 seconds
  • 2008 TL Automatic: 6.9 seconds
  • 2004 TL 6-Speed: 5.9 seconds
  • 2006 TL 6-Speed: 5.8 seconds
  • 2007 TL-S 6-Speed: 5.7 seconds
If I run across the link I'll be sure to update this post.

Thoiboi lmao.
g4acura daily driving you will not notice a difference in power at all trust me. Now when you floor it of course there is a noticeable
difference in power and engine sound. The type S will be a stiffer car to drive which means you will feel the road
more. Steering is tight and you can feel the transmission downshifts.
It drives more like a sports car then luxury. I prefer sport so I went Type S
The paddle shift and Brembos are also a great addition
