Someone stole my Aspec Kit
I had ordered the aspec kit and a few other small stuff and I was checking tracking the other day and it stated it was delivered. Well I never got anything and the person that signed for it doesn't exist around me and only signed it using their first name. I made a claim with Fedex and they told me they would get back to me and now they are saying the most they can do is give me $100 if not found. The place where I bought it doesn't seem too encouraging, they don't seem interested in helping me out and blamed Fedex. Fedex blamed the driver who said he delivered it a girl.
I hate Fedex....how can they allow someone to sign for a package without checking ID? How can they let someone sign using only a first name that does not even match the name on the package? The more important question is how can someone sign for such a huge package that says acura/honda all over it knowing its not for them?
Oh well, no faith in humanity these days. NYC will never fail to disappoint me.

I would talk to a higher position guy and complain because that's the point of having someone sign the package to have the package shipped and received safe in your hands. That isn't right for them to just refund you $100 and call it a day. show them your receipt of what you spend and they should reimburse more for your loss.

Wow, brutal. I worked from home the day mine was coming since I knew it needed a signature and couldn't be left at the FedEx store. Makes me glad I did.
Hope it works out for you somehow. Where did you order it from?

not only that, it wouldn't make any sense to order it from Ack...he's in NJ and this guy is in NYC and that's not close at all.

Sorry OP. This sucks.
Unfortunately unless it was insured there is not much that will happen. FedEX and UPS never check ID. Or at least they have never checked mine. All the deliveries that come to the house never even gets signed for. I usually have important stuff shipped to my job.

I wish my parents had bought it for me ;(. No fun modding a car if your parents buy you everything. My parents would never buy me anything for the car lol.
I bought it from a Acura dealer, luckily the guy I placed the order with called me in the morning expressing his sympathy. He also offered to resend and start a claim when needed. Apparently the guys working yesterday did not know orders are insured and fully protected. I also find it funny how FedEx claimed the package is not insured and that I can only get $100 for it.
FedEx apparently has no idea where it went. This morning they claim the girl was in the house. I find that hard to believe no girl lives at the house. Its just empty only used for storage or when installing mods.
When I bought the type s lip 3 months ago the FedEx guy came to my house and no one was home. Rather take the package back he went into the mailbox and found my sisters name and signed it using that. When I complained FedEx told me the driver has authority to leave the package if location is deemed safe even if it requires a signature.
And Ack was out of my color. I wonder if when my dealer ships it will they ship in another color since my color is gone?
Do you guys think I have the right to ask FedEx to refund my shipping money?

Dumb FedEx left my big ass box of my kit on my front door. They are supposed to drop it off at the office when nobody is home. Luckily we live in a private community so not a lot of traffic or that baby would've been gone.

Lesson learned. I would never have an expensive item shipped to an empty house, insured or not.
So was the house locked? Did the "girl" answer the door at the house? Sounds like BS to me. Wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the driver took it for himself or resale.
This is one of the reasons I have recorded video surveillance...

I would say FedEx should be wholly accountable. You didn't sign for an item that required your signature. They screwed up by allowing a non resident at your home to sign who happened to be outside and took your goods. $100 is a joke as a penalty to them. I wouldn't give them any slack. Kick it up the corporate ladder until you get satisfaction/ repayment for stolen goods.

Insurance is to protect the shipper, not the buyer. You shouldn't be dealing with fedex. You should be filing a chargeback on your credit card, submitting a claim with paypal, etc, etc however you paid. Its the seller's responsibility to get the item to you safely. If they don't have your signature, it's between fedex and the seller to work out who is taking a loss.

I also work for FedEx Office..... part of FedEx so maybe i can help a little. When the dealer shipped it out did they declare a value on the package.... if not, it only has $100 of a declared value on it.... a declared value is NOT insurance, FedEx does NOT offer insurance. So, if they (the shipper) didn't declare a value all your gonna get from FedEx is $100
As for the signature you can have a direct signature, meaning only YOU can sign for it or an indirect signature meaning ANYONE even your neighbor can sign. That being said, FedEx is required to get the last name. Anything over $500 of declared value HAS to have some kind of signature.
if you need me to further explain the insurance vs declared value thing i can, it can get kind of confusing.
Sorry you are having problems with Fedex, if i can help let me know i will.

Sorry to hear about the issue. I'm not sure I understand what happened here. You say you had it shipped to an empty house?!? I'm confused.
I'm surprised how many people have shipping issues. I always have items left on the door step never any issues. I know stuff can happen anywhere, but I feel bad for you guys in the northeast. Every theft, vandalism, or any other issue always seems to be from someone living in New York or Jersey. Sucks.

ARO, why on earth do you ship expensive parts to a place you don't even live at and is empty or abandoned? Over the years you have had some humdinger threads.
Good luck- work with your CC company on a reversal of charge and consider this a lesson in what happens when you take unnecessary risks.

So Fedex contacted me back saying they are trying to talk to the driver again lol.
Anyway, to clear up some confusion. The house is not empty empty nor abandoned. Its in a full neighborhood and just has no one living in it. The neighbors are all our close friends and they take big packages for us if something comes. In this case I was going to be at the house when Fedex was showing the delivery, but they delivered a day earlier without updating the website. So I had no idea they delivered early until I checked the tracking the next day.
The person signed it using only a first name, I will be complaining about that to Fedex.
I am confident the dealer will be able to ship me a new set but I really hope Fedex comes through and finds me the old package. Not hoping too much, they don't sound very "sympathetic" about the whole situation.
Since the dealer is helping me out or is at least saying they will send me a new package when they file their own claim, I am a bit reluctant to file charge back so quick.

Still doesn't make sense to me. Why on earth would you have something shipped to anywhere but your own home? Ok so maybe you were going to be at this house for whatever reason, I can kind of understand that, but then who was this person that signed for it? Who and why are these people at this home that is supposedly vacant?
I feel bad you didn't receive your kit, but at the same time I don't know if FedEx should be held responsible either. They delivered the merchandise to the home they were told to and received a signature for it. How are they at fault? Typically when something needs a signature it doesn't matter if someone scribbles on there, or writes a bogus name. They are at the delivery address and someone from that residence signed. That's all they need. And to whoever said it above, no delivery person checks to see an ID come on lol. Wish I felt differently, but it seems to me the issue was you having it shipped to a home that isn't yours.

The house is ours, its only used when anyone of our family goes to the city for a event or something and was used by my sister when she was at school in NYC. Its not just a random empty house l0l, its our own house. The person who signed for it does not live there, they were supposedly inside but thats not true because if someone was inside we would know about it lol.
They did not deliver it at the house because if they had we would have gotten a notice that would have told us a reattempt would be made tomorrow. It says delivered at 9:27AM, the neighbor have a CCTV running 24/7 and from 9:00-10:00 not a single Fedex van/truck went by and practically no one was outside. This leads me to believe he delivered to wrong address and is not owning up to it. I have googled this and Fedex/UPS drivers often claim they delivered it because the pay for lost shipments through their own pocket.
The only reason it was shipped there is because of heated garage. Installing mods is very easy and simple in a heated garage. There are no cars in the garage either so you can park the car without worry and have ample amount of room to install/work. The aspec boxes are huge, if I had shipped it to my house that has no heated garage it would have been impossible to take it down without inconvenience/damage.

Bird is the Word
Did you verify with the seller the correct shipping address? Maybe you or the seller wrote down the wrong address by accident? I'm really having a hard time believing it's Fed Ex's fault. I have never shown my ID when recieving a package from Fed Ex, UPS, or USPS. If I open the front door or I'm in the garage, they have no problem dropping it off to me.
Either way, sorry to hear there has been a mix up with the package. I hope you get it sorted out.

The first thing I did was verify my address, it was indeed correct and they had the correct address on the shipping label.
The driver claims to have gone to the correct house but FedEx told me they are talking to him again. Hopefully they will make it right for me, if not I am sure the dealer will but it sucks because its FedEx fault.
FedEx lady told me they start delivering packages around the holiday time at 1-2 am and have to move fast so mistakes do happen sometimes. I still find it odd someone signed for such a big boxes that said Acura on them.
I will keep you guys in the loop, hopefully it gets fixed soon.
Thanks for the support everybody!
