Some questions about TL Type S
Hi guys:
Couple questions...I am looking to upgrade from my 04 tl to a type S.
Surprisingly I have like 4 people with exactly the color combo I am looking for.
Some questions for you guys...
Are all TL-S cars Aspec ? Or is that an add on ?
What are the differences between an 07 and 08.
The cars I am looking at all have between 25- and 35k on them...what is a fair price for an 07 or 08 with similar mileage ?

No, TL-S aren't A-spec. A-spec is an add on body kit, and suspension.
There are no differences between the 07 and 08 model years.
Be warned, dealers are raping people on the price of used Type S models. I paid $33k for mine brand new, many are asking close to that with 20k miles on them.

what is the average price for a 08 TL-s 6 speed with less than 20K miles? I have one and looking to sell. The dealers are offering me around $28K for trade in. Is that a fair price?

SilverJ-with the car market being depressed, hopefully you'll have some negotiating power on your Type S.

dealers here in so cal are asking 33-35k for used 08 Type S models with 10-15k miles.
there were a lot of incentives on the car in late 08, and now that they are back on the used car market, the dealers are pretending those incentives were never there, or at least they are NOT atking lowest selling prices into consideration and they are asking a used price that is based off what MSRP was on these things... hey, if people will pay it - they can sell it for that.
$28k for a trade in sounds great. realisticaly, that means you could have bought your car for $31,500 and sold it for $28k and have driven it an entire year. only taking a $3,500 hit. I don't know many luxury cars that ONLY drop $3,500 in a year!!!
they will buy your car for $28k and turn around, CPO it, and then sell it for $31-32k.
I was really looking to buy a used 08 TL, but given how much they want for htem, it almost seems better to just lease a ne one. you can get an 09 TL w/tech for about $34k.
seems stupid to pay $32k for an 08 Type S, when I can get an 09 for a couple grand more. the 09 is growing on me....
in a year or two, the 07-08s are going to look even more outdated..and all the haters of the 4G will finally come around and the 4G will be accepted/liked. just my guess... the 3G is a good looking car, I almost bought one, but once the new one is on the road a little longer, people will like it.
when the 5 series first came out i hated that too. now i think the bangled up 5 actually looks kind of cool. it just has to grow on you... now i see the older 5 seies and it looks OLD..but when the new 5 series first came out, I thought the old 5 series was gorgeious... time changes things... and perceptions.
bottom line - the resale on teh TL is amazing. the 08s are selling for a lot depiste what they sold for in late 08....

$28k isn't abnormal. I had mine in for service last week, dealer asked if I was interested in trading it. They offered me $28,900 for mine with 9k miles on it. They said 08 TL-S's are in high demand.
The hold thier value really well.
As for getting to like the 4G, I've driven one, and got plenty of looks at them while at the dealer. As the car is now, I wouldn't buy one. I could live with the rear end, but the front is just to ugly. I'd buy a V6 TSX before I'd buy a 4G TL.

That's a pretty fair price. I've seen some with more miles go for more. For a while I was looking at an MRP Type-S with ~70k miles, and the cost was around $21k. The ad was later changed to $20 before someone bought it.

I found mine with 55k a year ago for 23 but got for 19. Cherry. I found another for same specs and price but was a basket case when I drove it. Be patient and don't get despatch Cus you want a car. Look for at least a few weeks

Got my 08 type S 6mt back in july. It was listed as $19,999 with 72k miles. I ended up getting about 2k-3k more for my trade in then they initially offered (or anyone else for that matter) so I think I made out like a bandit.
Actually I got $4,500 more then the Carmax down the street offered me haha.
