When I first saw the 05 tl full aspec version at my local Acura dealership with ssm in black interiror along with navi and 6 MT, I was sold by the inside and out side looks, however the type s makes me get one so badly.

i've always had a love for the tl - the car is beautiful stock.
my friend had the tl when i had my g35 coupe w/brembo and HR motor and always worked on his TL, more than i did on my G. I sold the G because of oil consumption issues and picked up my friends TL since he was selling it and we didn't want it going to some young punk ass kid. Lovin' my TL - it's got a fair amount of mods now, and will be pretty quick once my supercharger is on!

I was looking at the 2G Type S but had read here on AZ about the transmission issues and there was no 6 Speed option. Waited for the 3G and simply fell in love with it. Best bang for your buck, performance, classic timeless styling, electronic gadgets, MPG......
Can honestly say this was the first new car I have owned that I have gone to the garage just to take a look at it. Loved it so much, I traded it and bought a Type-S!

Because I can't afford a Porsche 911 GT 3. And, ever since 04 when the 3G came out, I've always loved the body style and thought it was a great looking car inside and out. Got my 08 back in June, and I've loved every minute of it! Great car! Just wish I would have gotten the S, but I'm still happy.

I'm still surprised at the timeless looks. I bought a new BMW less than a month ago and when I see a TL or my TL I'm still surprised that it doesn't look even a little out dated compared to brand new cars.

^ Timeless looks indeed! IMO, even the old 4 door Legends still look good.

I agree, they always stood out to me even before I owned a TL or a Honda product.

I always loved the look of the TL and really wanted one but to be honest, it was out of my budget when new. I always drove Hondas so tried to make myself content with the 6 generation 99 Accord which I had bought new four years prior to the 3rd gen TL's production. I drove that car for 11 years and it was great but everytime a TL drove by it was like it was taunting me because I knew that was the car I really wanted. Then one day I totaled the Accord. The next day I was driving (a rented Jetta) to meet some friends and saw a white TSX for sale, sitting right out front as if it was waiting for me. Well, I thought, it's not a TL but it's the closest thing. I bought it but somehow it still wasn't the same as having what I really wanted. Because gas prices were shooting up and the TSX required premium, I convinced myself I didn't need it about 6 months later. I stupidly sold it and bought a first generation CR-V. Talk about underpowered and slow! That thing couldn't get out of its' own way. So three months later I sold it and bought another 6 generation Accord, then a 7th generation Accord. Since the 7th gen was an EX-L, I tried to convince myself that it was just a good as a TL but who was I fooling? By this time a used TL was well within my budget so I finally got my hands on one. This was November of last year. Wish I had gotten it much sooner. This car is awesome!

Have to agree with you on that also. Before owning my TL which I bought May of this year, I drove a 91 4-door Legend for 5 years. Loved every single thing about it, but the BHG problem forced me out of it. Solid car, well built and you can see how advanced the car was for it's age. Cruise control, powered windows, powered moonroof, A/C Climate Control..List goes on.. Oh how I miss my Legend to this day.

I got my TL after looking for a TSX for a long time but never quite finding the right deal. Everyone was asking too much for my taste. My roommate told me to check out the TL and BAM. The prices were good, the car looked super cool and it had more power than I would ever need since I came from an old impreza with barely 130 HP. I looked around a bit, checked out 2-3 cars then found mine. It had about 1k worth of repairs due on it so the price was adjusted to 6800$ (175 000 km 05 base). Rust was minimal ( bottom passenger door on the inside). Only thing is, even with extensive care, the engine's slight clicking has now been diagnosed as a piston slap by the dealer which is causing me some amount of stress.

I freaking love that car though. I plan to keep it for a long time and take good care of it. It's a pain in the ass sometimes but it's also lots of fun.

Reliability played a big part into it, but definitely also looks, interior, and features.

So it all started 2011. After living in my parent's house jobless for 2 years, I took a piece of shit offer just to get away from the religious oppression of them. Obviously, I needed urgently to get a car. Before going with a 7k Corolla that made a lot of sense, I did one last check of dealerships. I wondered if there was something extremely exotic by a brand I never heard of that would still be in my price range. "Acura" dealership in Toledo. HRM. Have never heard of this brand before in my life. (Since from childhood I hated cars, and was only forced to get my license by my parents at age 16, I held a deep prejudice against most all brands I "had" heard of. Hence a brand I NEVER heard of hold a huge appeal to me.)

Go a drive this black thing. It looks like a space ship, and inside the cockpit are a lot of exotic buttons. I found it extremely exciting to have all these nobs and levers to play with. It was a 2003 Type S. The woman said it was a rare car and would go fast. I was pumped! $11k - doable. ... Was about to tell the other dude cancel my Corolla order. Then I google and saw the transmission issues.

Ever since that moment I lusted for the exotic Acura. One year later exactly AT RANDOM I went on a Toyota dealer site and saw a 2007 TL type -S which looked fucking SICK (already tinted windows) and elite - and way beyond my MEANS and SOCIAL CLASS. I had ever intention of keeping the Corolla for 10 years (it was a 2003) ~~ and live within my means. I went after work and immediately test drove the TL-S. My mind was BLOWN this man was letting me test drive something that costs $40,000 originally. I was actually shaking I was so nervous. It was like I had entered the big league. Truly life changing. My heart was pounding with exhilaration! Well..... $16,000 ~~~ water pump AND belt hadn't fucking been done by 115,000. Very dangerous driving in that mother fucking condition! I bargained down to $15,000 and got $1200 in work done the next day.

Life has been paradise ever since.

I'll never forget the feeling the first 6 months driving it -- feeling "I" was one of the truly elite vehicles on the road -- like a god in man's form. I know most of you guys are going to LAUGH because you have a dark sick and cynical view of life. Well I'm sorry for you -- because I'm not like you, I get to enjoy the finer pleasures by subjectively seeing many things in the world as awesome that you'll say "oh well xxx has a one billion dollar x so your car is nothing if it cost $40k" blah blah. This is subjective! Think of your life in terms of a pheasant in the middle ages and how you roam this earth like a god with so many pleasures! Because compared to them - you DO! So why NOT appreciate it? Why so cynical and lame?

The first thing that caught my eye were the sexy curves of the car. The NBP shine on the curves was unlike anything I've ever seen. I was going on this crazy debate between a '07 STI, a Evo X, and this one while I was deployed. Since I had a lot of google time out there, I researched them all. STI and Evo were fast and fun, but not something I could see myself in when a family was in the picture. The picture the TL type S portrayed to me was, "sexy, fun, comfortable, reliable and sexy." (Yes, double sexy). And to this day, I still feel like this was the best purchase I could have made. Friends constantly call me out for looking back at my car after I get out of it. Couldn't be happier

I bought my TL simply because I know that Acura is a good car and I've always admired them since I had my Legend. I loved the styling and the performance it offered as well. After I wrecked my Accord it only felt right going back to the Acura brand. Also driving my mom's 4th Gen TL only made me want one of my own even more!

Coming from an 06 Accord coupe 6mt. I was mainly looking for rwd. I was looking at g37 coupe 6mt, x-runner or 3g TL-S all 6mt. I always loved the look of the TL. Actually wanted one b4 the accord but out of my budget. Got tired of looking for a reasonibly priced g37, x-runner, 6mt TL-S and figured I would go check out this 6mt TL by my house just cause. Forgot how much I loved the smooth shifts from the 6mt and offered him $. He called 2days later accepting it.
