So....what made you want to get a 3G TL??
just seeing what drove you guys to do it.
for me, i have always liked the lines on these cars, but had a customer come in to get a check engine light checked on his TL, when i got in the car, turned the key, (i think he had some sort of sound system) sounded so good, and i was just looking around inside the car and it was so nice!!!!!, im anti-autotragic trans so i knew i had to ge a 6mt, there were only two nearby, went and test drove it, i knew that was my next car, car was quick, i hardly taped the gas turning out of the dealer, response was so quick i almost hit curve cause i was still looking the other way to make sure no cars were coming, def got my attention there, a month or two later after letting go my 95 supra i got a 6speed 04, and i love it

The main reason why i got my TL is because of the factory HID headlights. TL Bi-xenons are one of the most desired projectors out there today. Coming from the retrofit world, the only way for me to fit them in most headlights would to have to buy the car. They are way to large to fit inside most headlight assemblies.
Also, the overall look of the car is sexy.

I came from a Subaru WRX that was highly modified and rode on rails. I couldn't stand the hard seats anymore and going on long drives would kill my back. I was looking for a luxury car this time around. I first looked at a Mercedes Benz C300 and found that it was nice exterior, but the interior felt very plain for the price. I also looked at a Nissan Maxima which was beautiful inside and out, but a little bit more than I wanted to pay. I then came across a certified pre-owned TL on the internet close to where I live and at a great price. I took it for a test drive, loved it, and the rest was history.
I do miss the power and fun factor of the WRX, but I really love the ride quality of the TL. It's no race car, but it gets up and goes just fine for my liking.

Coming from a 97 S-10 this was a HUGE upgrade, so pretty much everything sucked me in.
The look of the car won me over big time, I wanted 4 doors, something with same or better MPG's than the truck, HID's with projectors, the V6 and the interior feel. I LOVE the feel of sitting in this car, the entire driver's area is a great place to sit.

Aw man I've wanted a TL for like 5 years and finally just dumped my old Cirrus for an 08. The fine hum of that v6, the HID lights, heated seats, REALLY awesome exterior look (love that aggressive 3G body). Too many other little things to list... It's just an amazing car.
...and yeah, chicks dig it. My wife loves me more for my car now than anything else haha

Acura TL 08 PMM
I originally wanted a Nissan Altima, but after owning a 2g TL and being on Acurazine took a stroll to the 3g section and was hooked on the outside and inside of the car and i ended up with an 08 PMM beauty!

Put my 99 TL in the shop for the TB service. I drove my dads truck (94 silverado w/ 350 in it) while my 99 was in the shop and I was only getting like 12-15 mpg's.
Drove thru a car lot one night and my wife spotted the 3G TL. I knew the guy well, so he let me take it for the weekend (He knew what he was doing ).
I returned the car on Tuesday, and we negotiated price. I drove it home wednesday.
Oh yeah, and I still kept the 2G TL since it was paid for and too "used" to trade in (dealership offerewd me $1500 ). That was almost 5 years ago, so I definately got my use out of the second gen TL (its still my daily).

My parents decided on the TL due to its large trunk, reliability, abundance of features (navi/bluetooth), and size. It was bigger than the Lexus IS my mom originally was looking for and less 'old grandma-ish' than the Lexus ES and similar Mercs.
I would personally choose the TL for its sportiness, ageless design, dashboard layout, and engine reliability/mileage.

Definitely the body style. Power and handling felt good the first time I drove it also.

originally, I want 02-03 TL-S after my dad bought 00 TL then in 04 Acura offer MT my attention shifted into the 04. Finally they I was hang around on the internet late in 06 in my Acura Legend forum and saw some body posted the article on Edmund discuss about 07 TL Type S with KBP and Ebony/silver interior and I know some day in the future I must own one.

It was a tight race between the TL, Subaru Legacy GT, and a 07+ G35/G37 sedan. All had to be MT.
TL won out because MPG (Both LGT and G35/7 suffered poor hwy mpg by a large margin even driving 65 mph)
Cost to maintain was lower than the G and LGT (latter of which had numerous turbo failures and subsequent engine failure under 100k. Suabru warranty claims are a mine field. My friend with an 06 LGT Spec B didnt recommend if i was planning on putting miles on it. )
0-60 still fairly close to G and LGT while being a N/A V6 = going back to lower maintenance costs.
and then the looks. LGT looks OK but i dont think it'll age well, no standard HIDs or LED tails. G35/7 still looks kinda good, imo
the G is still on the back of my mind though for the RWD...

the look and lines of the car was the hook, but i was absolutely settled on the TL when I realized how balanced the traits of the car were. It is 'fast', sporty and sexy while being comfortable, luxury, reliable and efficient. You can find a lot of cars that are better in both directions but not another that balances these traits so well, IMHO.

Was big into muscle cars but my buddie bought a 06 TSX and I thought it looked really nice, he then slowly got me into Acura and was always talking about the TL.....from then on I kept seeing TL's and fell in love.....to make this long story short I bought a TL before him so he kinda hated me for a bit.
The TL is just a sexy car, and the interior/body look so sharp and newer then most cars the same year.

was thinking about getting a 2010 camaro.. but test drove it, interior looked like sh*t, no navi, cheap plastics, and the dealer jacked up the price and told me it was a hot item. I would never buy american cars again just because the way they treated me at the dealership. I was only 21 and they thought i couldnt afford a new camaro. anyways, ive always loved hondas and the TL-S is like the best honda/acura ever when i bought it. best interior i have every seen in a car/luxurious enough/fast!

Keep Right Except to Pass
I got my TL back in August 2004. I had a 1997 Accord and I was stopped for a red light on the way home from work when a girl in a Volvo wagon rear-ended me. She was going at least 25 mph and the damage to my Accord was well over $7000, so the insurance carrier declared it a total loss.
I was prepared to consider a couple of different cars, with the Lexus IS high on the list, but my first stop was an Acura dealer, in part because my father had just bought a TSX there three months earlier and so I dragged him along to see if the salesman might give me a deal due to the repeat business (he did). Took two test-drives of different TLs because I said I would not buy unless I got to test-drive a 6MT since I knew I wanted the manual. Those drives convinced me that the TL was a better buy than the Lexus for a number of reasons, including way more space inside, the Lexus having gimmicky-looking chronograph-style dashboard gauges, Toyota's habit of having annoying options packages that run up the price, and frankly I preferred a front-wheel drive car for ski trips.
Another car I considered looking at was the Volvo S60 but I dropped that idea in part because at the time I was 31 and single and I decided a Volvo was not the type of car I should be driving! (My mom did lend me her Volvo for a few days after the accident and I must say after getting rear-ended like that it was reassuring to have a big safe cage around me.)
It was a couple of days before I got the TL because they didn't have a 6MT with Navi on the lot. I wanted RRP, but an NBP came in first and since I needed a car ASAP I took it. I still kind of wish I had the RRP. Ms1995hoo has a 2003 RSX Type-S in RRP and I still really like that color, and it's MUCH easier to keep it looking clean and nice than the NBP is!
Aside from the 1997 Accord, I'd had a 1982 Accord during college (bought from my father) and a 1986 Legend (replaced the 1982 Accord) during law school; in addition, my father has had a 1991 Accord (bought when he sold me the 1982 Accord), a 1998 Acura 3.5 RL (still has that and it only has 60,000 miles on it), and that 2004 TSX (it has over 160,000 miles), and my brother has had a 1996 Civic and a 2005 Civic (the latter has something like 170,000 miles on it). So you could say our family has a bit of brand loyalty to Honda/Acura except for my mother's Volvos!

I got it for the following reasons:
Insurance was cheaper than a C300, G35/37, 330/335i IS/250/350
Better fuel economy than C300, G35/37. 330/335i
More power than IS250, less expensive than a IS 350
I live in NYC, so RWD drive is only useful 1/2 the year, so I opted for the FWD
Great interior
I dont like feeling anything when I drive, softer ride than BMW, Benz. The only car that had better ride quality was the IS250/350
The car is sexy-point blank

I've been working for a couple of years, all I had to show for it was expensive sushi receipts & over 50 pairs of shoes = stupid.
So I saved up and bought a 3G and ladies loveeee it.

I got tired of expensive repairs for my Lincoln Mark 8 LSC. The AC went out in spring of '04 (in Florida). Went to the Acura dealer in Gainesville, looked at 3 TL's, took a test drive and that was it! I drove off with my '04 TL and have been happy with it ever since. I'd be thinking of a 5G TL when they come out, but I'm currently obsessing over the NSX concept.
