Royal Purple Max ATF?
Is this ATF really good for our Tannys.....
I have a 07 Base TL
I am trying it out Temp, I did a Drain and Fill 3 quarts....
I dont know if i should keep running on it
It feels smoother in Tiptronic, But in D first two gears go smooth and then 3 and 4 have a lil glitch, or should I say the gears stick longer and change at a higher RPM....
Maybe I should Do another Drain and Fill? even out the Fluid ratio?

The problem is that you just did a Drain and fill. You mixed the new Royal ATF with your old fluid (8.7-9 qt capacity). To fully "drain and fill" your transmission fluid especially since you're going to a new fluid is too buy 12 quarts and do a drain and fill 4 times (to get out the old fluid) to really do a "drain and fill".

drain, fill, drive through all the gears (including reverse I think, someone please correct me if I'm wrong, then repeat 2 more times in sucession, no time limit needed to wait.

Why would you want to limit yourself to Royal Purple? There are much better fluids out there. There's tons and tons of info on the different fluids, what is better, and the reasons why. My self, "Inaccurate", and a few others have done lots of research and real world testing. Do a search for Redline and it's all there.

I use Redline D4.
Regardless, the trans in the TL is adaptive. I will take awhile for it to relearn the shift characteristics with the new fluid, and you might get some funny shifts until it does. If you want to speed it along, reset the ECM. Unhook the battery for about 20 minutes.

I ended up doing the drain and fill 3 quarts again.... thing gets expensive.
this is my second drain and fill. Tranny does feel quite different from ATF Z1.
I floored the car 1st and 2nd went smooth 3rd at 6 and 1/2 rpm had a big gap felt like there is a Air pocket or something. Seems the gears stick longer with this fluid.... I dont know how good this is for my tranny but i feel i should switch back to ATF Z1.....
Please leave feedbacks ....
I am in love with the Royal Purple Oil, but the Max ATF I am not too sure... maybe I should try reseting my ECU.....
Over all i think i am going to switch back to the normal ATF from Acura....
I dont have time and money to blow my tranny.... I dont want to destroy this beautiful CAR..
By the way "I Hate Cars" I allready had put Royal Purple in my Tranny so I didnt want to go through putting in Redline.... But thanks for you input, I have read a lot of post from you, Seem to know what you are talkin about....

It's going to hold the gear and shift quicker, and more firm, the fluid isn't highly friction modified like Z1.
Before you change back, try the ECM reset first. Then decide from there.

Does the old Hold down the gas pedal for 15 or 30 sec work? with the key in second position?
Or i should just do it the way you said with the battery cable?

The car's computer (ecu) will cut the throttle (like taking your foot off of the gas pedal) and remove all ignition advance between shifts except the 1-2 shift This will create a drop-off in power (aka, air pocket).
This "air pocket" is less noticeable with the Z1 because the Z1 has sloppy shifts. Other fluids will produce crispier shifts, which will allow you to feel what the car is really doing (as explained above).
Please do not be alarmed by this "air pocket" feel.

This "air pocket" (good description by the way) that you feel is normal.

I have an 05 TL with about 75k, I just had a shop change my fluid and they used a machine to flush it. They did the connections under the hood near the firewall, flushed it with about 8 quarts of new with the old draining into a container. After flushing it they added some sort of additive to the tranny fluid to make it Honda compatible. Everything seemed ok, but when I started it the next morning, I heard a strange sound coming from what I assumed to be the tranny, it just sounded rough for lack of a better term. I turned the car off and restarted but didn't notice the sound again, I also noticed the car seemed to rev a little higher before it shifts and just didn't seem as smooth as before. Later, I took a trip of a couple hundred miles and it seems to be getting better. But after reading all this information on tranny fluid changes, I would have done things differently. Do I have anything to worry about? Any suggestions?

Guys, please do some of your own research. It gets old to post so much research and answer so many of the same questions over and over and over and over and over because no one does their homework. Short answer:
Z1 is the worst fluid out there.
Making it "Honda compatable" is adding more friction modifiers which will reduce trans life and is the whole reason to get rid of the Z1. Adding more FM to Z1 fluid is asking for major trouble.
Adding a different fluid can't make it shift higher.
You're not supposed to flush a Honda trans with a machine. Could've screwed it up.
Any noise you're hearing is coincidence or it's severely under/overfilled or a result of the flushing machine.

Rebuilding my 03 TL trans......
I'm about to start tearing down my transmission and replacing everything inside with the master rebuild kit from raybestos. With steels and clutches from their gpx line. Now I've been reading alot of people debating on tranny fluid they use and what they dont now I'm just curious if ANYBODY in our acura world has done what im about to do. I use RP 0w-20 motor oil in my tl and without any doubt best oil I've ever used in any car I've owned. Now I'm reading up on the RP max atf fluid. People are saying that it's not worth the money and its the same fluid as Mobil 1 or pennzoil. I highly doubt that accusation because the motor oil works wonders in my engine. So why would the atf fluid side of this brand be anything less.??? Most of the posts I've read where from along time ago like 2010 -2012. Its 2020 now and like every company out there that are in a competitive market always tries to improve their products. I'm sure that RP max ATF fluid has been renewd and improved since back then. So can anybody share with me anything that's suggest I shouldn't use that fluid when I rebuild my transmission. Mind you I'm replacing the internal filter all gaskets and seals and clutches. Pretty much starting fresh. With the upgraded clutches in this master rebuild kit why wouldn't I use a superior atf fluid like RP. OEM atf z-1 isn't the best for damn sure. So please anybody got anything to say to all this.?? Thanx in advance to reading this post and replying..
