Road rage drunk guy backs into my TL *Video*
I was headed home from a 16 hour day at work at about 2am and had to deal with this...

I came up on this guy, he was going 40MPH on the interstate, but I had to get behind him to exit. He decided I was too close, so he brake checked me. I stopped, but then I didn't want to get next to him or in front of him. I could hear him yelling and a female in the vehicle yelling at him to stop and go home. He then pulled forward and reversed his Range Rover into me. He was clearly intoxicated.
He then pulled away like nothing happened. I called the police with his plate number and followed. About 2 miles later, he pulled over, I stopped far behind, and he tried to exit his vehicle, but the female held him in. Then he made a U-turn, drove on the wrong side of the road and tried to hit my driver's side. I went forward so he didn't hit me again. We went on down the road and I happened to see an unmarked police car going the other direction. I flagged him down and he went after the guy. We were only a short distance away, but he turned a corner and quickly disappeared.
The Range Rover had car dealer plates and I have a pretty good description and can recognize him. The vehicle is currently wanted and the driver will be arrested for 2nd degree assault which is a felony charge in Missouri.
The exterior damage isn't really all that bad considering an SUV drove up on the side of it. I'll need two new doors, fender, and a mirror though. Also my reverse (6-speed) is no longer working. I was putting it in reverse right when he hit me.

wow....unreal....how did you know to video it? if it had dealer plates, they should know which dealer its registered to...how many dented up land rovers can they have?
unbelievable...you should submit that video to your local news stations
you also stayed really calm considering...i would have been screaming and probably got out of the car (not the best idea)

Holy crap that tOtally sucks that he did that, but oh so awesome that you have it on video! I cant believe how calm you are! I would have been screamin! Hope they throw the book at him

Good thing you have a dash cam or just decided to record because of things he was doing before the video, either way, submit that to the police. Hope you get your TL fixed man, breaks my heart to see them damaged.

I can't wait to see how this plays out. It would have to be in your favor unless the vehicle was stolen. You stayed really calm. I would have had to destroy the video evidence of what happened next if it were me.

They were going to find the dealership. This happened a few days ago. I need to call the police station and see what they have found. I could probably find the dealership myself. There are only a few in the area that would have a Range Rover like that. All the plates for the dealership have certain letters in common. I might even find that RR in the body shop area.

Did you have an earlier encounter with him before the video was shot? It doesn't seem like you were that close for him to go all apeshit on you like that. I could understand his behavior if you were having issues with him when you were driving or something like that. Just doesn't add up IMO, and I have been through a ton of road rage situations before. Let us know the rest of the story if there is another part of it.

As for staying calm, I truly was just so exhausted and more disappointed that I would have to deal with it more than anything. I knew he wasn't going to stay around, but I was for sure going to follow. He wasn't going to outrun the TL although he never really tried. I'm just more pissed they didn't get him that night because then he could have had DWI added to his charges.
Also for being calm, when I was 17, a road rage incident ended up with me having a gun up against my face. I was lucky to get away alive and really avoid conflict like that on the road. Although had this guy gotten out and ended up by my car (considering what he brought with him), he would have gotten either:
A) Mace in his face
B) Taser barbs into his torso
C) 9mm rounds into his chest
I'm pretty prepared considering I live in St. Louis-crime capital of the US.

Nope That is what caught me so off guard. I've got the video prior to that clip. I just work a ton and have not had time to get it uploaded; plus it's pretty boring.

Man im glad you got this on video. Guys like this shouldnt have a license or be behind the wheel. He will definetly get fucked by the long dick of the law. Ive been contemplating getting an indash cam. I think seeing this might just seal it for me. Details on your equipment. More importantly keep us updated.

Smart staying cool and calm in the situation. It's always good to keep your wits about you. It gives you the upper hand in situations like this. Sorry your TL go banged up a bit. I hope they catch this guy and get him off the streets.
