Replacement TL Type S wheelership wheels

My stock type S wheels are scuffed up a bit & I am considering replacing them. Anyone have feedback on the wheels the Wheelership sells? The price sure is right at $115 each.

Do you know if the color is the same as the stockers?

well, if you read the description:

This new 17” x 8” 5-V-spoke replacement wheel design for the Acura TL was made for the 2007 & 2008 Acura TL Type-S. Only released in this very difficult to match hypersilver (charcoalesque paint), Acura TL Type-S rims are incredibly difficult for recondtioner’s and even manufacturers to match, but after 5-6 months of consultations with paint experts and a great deal of trial and error, we have finally been able to conquer that problem with a near perfect match. The design of these 2007-2008 Acura TL Type-S wheels offers a sporty and stylish look with a low-profile tire. They are an excellent replacement for damaged factory Acura Type-Srims, whether cracked, bent or even just scuffed. The Acura TL Type-Swheels for sale here are made from the same aluminum A356 Alloy as the stock OEM wheel and even hold the same JWL structural certification. This replication wheel also comes with a limited lifetime warranty on the finish.

it tells you that it's a replica, that uses the same alloy as the stock wheel, which has been self- certified to meet the JWL certification.
they even claim to have the paint process down.

as you said; the price is right...so go ahead and purchase with confidence that you are getting a replica.
if you also research further, you'll find that the business is located in New york and has contact information, bringing that buying confidence level up higher. (you know it's not a shady business)
You can also call them and speak to their staff.

I did indeed call them & spoke to a very helpful & cordial sales rep. I was just hoping someone here has actually tried a set & has laid eyes on their wheels.

$115 seems like a really reasonable price. Makes me suspicious... Ha.

Honda has a core charge eh?

yes, back then it was $225 per wheel which is reasonable, now they wanted additional $125 core charge. I asked them if my vehicle wheels got stolen, how I can get the core charge.

Have you checked rock auto? They sell refinished oem rims. Not sure they have the ones you seek but they did have aspecs both sizes at one point worth a look.

Yes I have. They have 4 of them in stock at about $20 each more.

I would like to hear from someone that has actually tried an aftermarket wheel that is identical to the standard type S wheel.

its a replica that meets or exceeds the certification process with a great staff that has a local US office..
purchase with confidence.

now, if there wasnt a US office, if there wasnt a cordial staff, if there wasnt any standards..then yes, be worried.

This thread post #5 has a photo of the wheels from the wheelership on someones car. Based off that photo and the photos from the wheelership webisite, I would say at the least the color is nearly identical to stock. Most of the aftermarket ones are a couple shades darker, not that they look bad, but compared to the stock center caps they are noticeable.

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-t...wheels-959891/

I have thought about getting a set from the wheelership, I am just worried about the local tire shops damaging the finish like they always do when installing tires.

Not 100% sure if mine are form here, but they are aftermarket type-S wheels to replace curbed up ones. Bought car with these, previous owner had them put on. Driven 3 years with no issues. Color is a little darker than stock but doesn't really bother me. You can see the difference in the center cap.

Damn those look sharp! I’ve held off on refinishing my wheels thinking that a replacement would be easier and more cost effective. These look amazing!

Sorry for reviving an older thread. I purchased replica type-s wheels from wheelership this summer and the only thing I would've liked to know before purchasing was the weight of the replicas compared to stock wheels.

I weighed them before mounting tires and they come in right around 23 pounds which seems to be on par with OEM waffles.

Additionally, the color match with OEM center caps is perfect. I bought the center caps from the dealer, cheaper than the ones they sell on wheelership.

Just thought this information might be useful for some other members here.

That's good to know. I just ordered a set today for my wife's new 2008 Type S.

I've bought several wheels from them over the years, and all were just fine! For '04/5/6 with manual transmission, you have to buy a refinished OEM wheel because the replica wheels won't fit over the Brembos.

Here's the pics of the new reproduction Waffles that we just got. I noticed a few imperfections (tiny bumps under the paint) but they look really good. We went with ebay center caps that are a shade brighter than the rims, but hardly noticeable. We also went with black lug nuts and it looks really good. My wife is VERY happy with the look. The customer service was great, but I was disappointed to see that they were made in a communist asian country.

I just bought a set of the Wheelership Type S reproductions a few weeks ago. I agree with J Smith, small imperfections here and there, but overall very nice finish. I do want to add that the pockets on the backside of the mounting face are much smaller than my factory 5 spoke TL wheels. You can see this in the pics J Smith posted above. I don't have factory Type S wheels to compare this to. If you are using spacers/adapters, this could cause issues if your lug nuts protrude past the face of the spacer. Wheelership shows out of stock on these now, looks like I bought them just in time! Also, these clear factory Brembos just fine, which you can also see in J Smith's pic.

Wheeler ship TLS Replica Weight

Just FYI for anyone wanting specifics on weight. I just ordered this set from Wheelership this past week - were $124 each with free shipping, wut?! As others mentioned, some very minor imperfections in a couple places but you would never see unless your eyeballs are 6” away.

Wheelership Replica: 23.2lbs
2008 TL-S Stock 17”: 22.6lbs

Definitely digging the darker color against my CBP. Now to decide about center caps and lugs.

What’s the general consensus on these wheels? Do they hold up to abuse such as nyc potholes?
