Removing weld strips

Does anyone have a link to removing / reinstalling the weld strips on the roof of the TL.

For clarification .. the 2 black plastic strips that run front to back just above the doors and hide the weld where the roof is welded in.

Did he take them right off front to back?

I'm looking at doing the roof overlay and would prefer to apply it under the weld strips if I can get them off and reaply without wrecking them.

Seriously, everyone on here bitches about people not searching the forums and posting new threads instead.

I searched the forums and resurrected this thread, and no one can give me some details on removing the rain channellss/weld strips and getting the cowl off ?

Maybe I should have forementioned I am not a handy guy. Thats why I am trying to do a mod like roof wrap and not installing a body kit. Ive done basic stuff like switched my pressure switches and flush my trans fluid, but I am really not experienced at working on cars, that is why I am looking for details. Im not stupid, im just not experienced.

Im pretty sure if someone has a video or details on how to remove the weld strips I can do the wrap. Theres a ton of videos on how to do it I can follow if I can just find a video or details to take off cowl and weld strips. I dont want to yank them and bust up all my clips.

try and google windshield replacement on acura tl, as during that process the trim pieces you are mentioning are removed , but when I had my roof wrapped I dont think they took all that stuff off, just small trim tools and razorblades did the job I think

I know the front and back can be done with a credit card and tuck method, but the sides dont have a lip to tuck into without removing the welds.

Not the most detailed pics but its something, I've had my windshield replaced after that wrap was done as well. I think the rough/going rate for a roof wrap is 300ish

Looks like they tucked it in before the weld strips, and it almost looks like your weldstrips have a diff lip or seal on them. Mine is an 06' i wonder if it changed at all. Ill look again but I didnt see anywhere to tuck into the weld strip on the sides only under the seal strip in the front and the channel in the rear.

Looks good btw

Huh, Ill try to take a closer look when it gets out of the shop and see if I can figure out a place to tuck without taking off weld strips but when I looked before it didnt look possible.

Looks like there is a tight little strip on the sides I can try to tuck it under but there is not a lot of room. It def would be much easier removing the weld strips
