Question Removing Lower Grills Without Removing Bumper

K. I've read posts that in order to remove the lower grills, you have to remove the bumper, and if you have a-spec kit, you have to remove it too. Is there a way to remove those grills without doing the above? I just got my car back from the body shop but I think the grills were not installed properly (didn't click in), so if I can take out the grills, I can fix it myself without paying a trip to the bodyshop. I have a 2006 TL with A-Spec kit on. I hope there's a way. Help.

Update With Pic

This is what it looks like now. It seems the clips of the grill are not clipping onto the back plate. Instead, they are pushing the plate up which expose the white part (and look ugly).

Someone back in the day said they pulled it off. Techically it may be able to be done by unclipping the black plastic panels below the bumper and wedging a flat screwdriver in there. I don't know how well you'd be able to see what you're doing though. It's been said many many times how easy it is to remove your front bumper, why don't you try it? It's a lot easier to remove those clips with the bumper off vs. bumper on.

Looking at your pic, seems like just removing/reinstalling that 1 clip won't be easy. Try prying at it from the outside maybe. Remember the grill pulls towards the outside of the car. All the clips are at a weird angle and you might have to just remove the whole thing and reinstall to get it seated right.

If you're afraid of removing the bumper, remove the fenderwell cover. You'll have access through there.

Glad you got it fixed. I was able to get those lower grills off by taking off the bottom plastic pan under the bumper. Then I reached in with my hands and popped them out, wasn't hard, but I have long arms.

Yeah, they seemed to have removed the grills without removing bumpers at all. I should have asked them how they did it (or watched them) so I can do a DIY for this forum.

I removed the on my 07 with out removing the bumper. But for the 07 and up, ou must reach behind the bumper throught the front wheel compartment. There is an extra long clip that locks the fog log part to the bumper. I was only able to reach this through the wheel compartment
