Hey everyone,


Just wanted to chime in and ask a few questions. My 07 base just hit 133,000kms (roughly 82,600 miles) today and I was just wondering what I can prepare myself for in regards to upcoming maintenance.


I know that the big 105k service is coming up, however, I have heard of members doing it before that mark just as a preventative measure. My question is, is there any notification from the car, when the 105k service is due?


Also, I have read up on the pressure switches. I experience the delay when going from park to drive, and drive to reverse, where the car will take a couple seconds and then it feels like it finally got into gear. (makes a bit of noise while doing this too). My question is, by changing the pressure switches, can this be fixed/made better?


Also, if there is any other maintenance that could be coming up shortly, please let me know. I have no complaints about the car since buying it, it is my daily driver, and the majority of my driving is done on the highway.


On a side note, I average 700km/tank, believe dat! My average is 6-7L/100km on the hwy, absolutely amazing on gas

82,600 mi is nothing...no need to do the timing belt early unless you know of a garage that's running a special, otherwise wait til 105K (or the MID '4' indicator). Do the spark plugs at that time as well. Otherwise, nothing else is needed.

As for the pressure switches curing a delay in gear changes when stopped, it probably won't have any effect. Is the fluid fresh and is there enough fluid in there?

The pressure switches won't change the delay, it's made that way. The noise is also normal. The pressure switches + 3x3 ATF drain and fill will mostly help smooth out the gear transitions. If you feel some hesitation going from 2 to 3 (and back) or 3 to 4 (and back once again), that's what I'm talking about. Either way, not a bad idea to have peace of mind and have clean fluid in.

As for mileage, on mostly highway I do around 600km a tank. I can believe you stretch it to 700km if you do highway alone.

The transmission delay symptom you mentioned sounds like what I had experienced. I ended up getting a new Transmission with my 06 and it happened at around 95k miles.

The only thing I would check for at your mileage is possibly the radiator. I had a Honda Pilot that suffered from a corroded ATF cooler nipple on the radiator and it caused a major problem- fortunately in my driveway and not on the highway. This is a common issue with Pilots and Odysseys around 80k miles.

I thought the TL was in the clear, but I have heard on this forum of others that have suffered from this same malady with their TL's. The radiator is a very real issue that deserves attention. I would have a mechanic inspect the radiator nipple welds at the very least.

^this got me thinking about my car @ 73K. I popped up the hood and see I have a radiator cap with a slight leak- see the dried remnants of radiator fluid near the cap. 9 years for a cap seems pretty good- I had a VW in my past that I had to change caps every 1-2 years.
