^ I see your point pohljm.

I nevertheless succumbed to the polished look of those caliper covers. They are stock so I see this mod equivalent to putting different exhaust tips on- for looks only. I'll only be adding a couple of ounces to each wheel so all is fine.

I bought the covers to add once I replace the front rotors/pads. I wouldn't pull the wheels just to only install the covers no matter how good they look.

its a PIECE of CAKE !!

all you need is some JB Weld....I put some JB Weld on the caliper and held the cover in place for like 2 minutes....it set up well....

I didnt drive until the next morning though....

This is where you apply the JB Weld...took the pic from some other thread:

I do have them in stock, part# 45218-TX4-A00. Orders can be placed at www.AcuraOEMParts.com. Type 'ACURAZINE' in the comment section of the shopping cart and we will deduct an extra 5% off of the parts sub-total before we process your credit card.

They fit both the RDX and the RLX but have to be modified to use on the TL. And yes, you need to order 2.

I think they're sold individually...that's how most things are sold for our cars.

If you want to cover all 4 then you need to order 4. They are sold 'each'.

I wouldnt call the front a perfect fit. Youll have to paint the calliper so it blends.

I would recommend that you read some of the posts/threads regarding this modification. I have seen it done by one of our techs to his TL, but only on the rears. Looks great.

It's super easy to do...I had them. The ebay wanna be brembos were a lot hard to get to sit while the RTV dried. These RDX covers can be bent and hold on to where they need to be even without the silicone.

Just curious- I have an '06 TL 6MT, with the stock Brembos up front, however, the paint is starting to peel on one of my calipers and just looks awful. Do these covers fit the Brembo calipers?

Regardless of whether these fit or not over the Brembos, Is there any other solution for me, other then having to replace the entire caliper (assuming I didn't want to go this route, that is).

Thanks!!!

they don't fit and even if they did, you aren't covering your actual BBK fronts with a cover.

There is an easy solution...sand em and reclear. Or change colors...there are multiple threads on it.

The problem is that I want my calipers to still say "Acura" on them, and not "Brembo". Is it possible to buy just the decal? If so, I'd definitely go that route of refinishing them.

I've seen aftermarket "Acura" decals on ebay, but they look crappy in my opinion. They all seem to be curved which doesn't look as good, at least in my mind.

Well, I never saw a problem with having brembo on an actual brembo.

If you don't want to lose the Acura and black...then just take off your wheel, sand lightly with nothing lower than like 800/1000 grit but don't sand hard enough to remove ACURA or any BLACK and then hit it with high temp clear. In theory, it should look good as new.

I'm clearly a noob at this, lol. Not sure what's funny about my post but I'm guessing I'm clearly missing something.

I was under the impression the 04-06 6MT TL had Brembo calipers on the front. Am I wrong on this?

Second, I was under the impression these covers, with a bit of modification, slip over the top of existing TL calipers, no? And if so, why wouldn't I want to do that with my, what I perceive to be Brembos? If they don't fit, so be it.

It's not just the clearcoat that's peeling on one of my calipers, but it's the entire paint coating, right down to the bare metal. Right now my passenger caliper says "URA", lol. I'm guessing by your statement that the Brembo calipers are too big to fit these RDX calipers anyway.

What was funny was that people would kill to have the Big Brake Brembo caliper that came standard on your 6MT TL and would likely kill you for sticking this thing on top of it.

You're right in your interpretation, it is way too big to fit over it anyway.

I also find it funny that you'd be okay with having a tiny cover on your caliper and NOT okay with finding a decal that suits your liking on ebay to then recondition the paint/clear on your caliper.

There's a guy that was a vendor on ebay that can make custom decals...he can likely make you one that is the exact ACURA font as the OEM one.

1st I completely agree, on the 6MT deal...and if you have a big caliper which looks good, why would you need a cover for it?

EDIT: :phew:

I would do what Jeremy recommended and just sand/paint the caliper and put some fresh decal on it

I'm guessing the RDX cover just makes the regular TL calipers look bigger then, yes? The only reason I wanted it was not to make the caliper necessarily look any different, but rather just to have the fresh Acura logo on it. Rather then spending a lot of Dough on a new caliper with fresh paint that will undoubtedly chip off over time, I figured a plastic cover doing essentially the same thing would work well. Seeing as this is not the case, this mod definitely is not for me. However, for the rears, it's sounding like a different story

I think I may have found a vendor to help me with my sticker issue. Hopefully it all pans out. Anyway, enough thread jacking. I was asked just the other day by someone as to why I "riced" out my front calipers with the acura logo, lol. I told them it was stock. Then they were confused why only the fronts had the logo. I think I'll definitely be getting this mod for the rear brakes

I think you are on the wrong track here buddy...

the RDX covers are not to make the caliper look big but to make for a cleaner look....

so instead of having a big chunk of metal, you have a big chunk of metal in a flashy cover...

THAT IS FOR BASE MODELS !!!

for Type S Models and 6MT models, Acura already put a 'cover' on the big chunk of metal....I would just recommend, sanding, painting, decal...

if you live in a place where you see snow/ICE/salt, I would recommend the G2 caliper paint kit...its thicker and hence does not peel off or chip off....I will be doing this myself later this year....tried it on the wifey's Lexus and its on there, on there !!

best part, the whole deal wont cost you more than 30 bucks....
