First of all, thank God, you are safe, I rolled over my Maxima in Nov 2012, and I feel for you. This is heart breaking stuff. As i was told, As long as you are safe and sound, cars will come and go.

I'm glad i rolled over my Maxima because now i'm a proud owner of a TL haha so something better will come your way. Hold tight!!

Glad you're ok..

Sucks to see this, but as a few mentioned, nice to see the TL handle that kind of impact w/ no severe damage to driver.

Wow! Now this thread deserves the "My TL saved my life" title. I am glad your okay and sad to see your car so twisted up. I really liked the wheels.

Good luck with moving forward with a claim and let me know if you have any questions.

Sorry to hear, that was a bad one. Hopefully not too many more injuries will surface. I had a similar incident years ago in a 9 month old Accord SE. Woman ran a red light at 50+ mph in a big american stn wgn and hit me broadside in the drivers door. Knocked me 30 ft into a van then into a pole. Car was written off and I was so swollen the broken collar bone didn't show up in x-rays until a week later. Also had 3 broken ribs, broken finger, ear cut in half and miscellaneous cuts and many bruises. I woke up in the car as they were cutting my door off. Couldn't stand the sound of sirens for months after that but the car did its job like yours did and this was long before air bags.

Its a shame to lose such a nice car as yours but your life is more important and it appears to have done its job of protecting you as best as possible under the circumstances. I hope you heal quickly and can put this behind you.

I get really pissed when I read stuff like this. I am glad you're OK (other than bumped and bruised) and hope you recover quickly. What really stinks is that despite the fact that your car will be totaled and you will get money for a new one from the insurance company, these scumbags from a financial standpoint get off other than the charge of leaving the scene and driving w/o insurance and driving an unregistered vehicle. The penalties for that need to be stiffer (jail time and a hefty fine to be worked off while in jail). Plus, if your car is covered with the under/uninsured motorist coverage, does a deductible apply? It would suck if it does, as then you'd be out the amount of the deductible as well because of these asses.

Also, when getting the value for your car, see if the insurer will go via local comps vs KBB or NADA. The price on comps may be higher.

I'm really glad you're okay and not seriously injured. I wish you a speedy recovery.

This was one of the main reasons that I purchased a 3G TL. I saw some of the bad accident photos on here and how people walked away from them and I knew I had to to get one.

I would salvage as much as stuff as possible from your TL and sell it since they're probably going to scrap it anyways.

UPDATE:

I talked to my adjuster and I will be able to take parts from the car, however I have to replace whatever I take. With that said, if anyone is seriously interested in the RIM's now would be the time to make it happen.

I am pretty sure the rear left RIM is done but you never know "Might be the hub that got twisted in, to hard to tell"

I just got brand new falken's on there so the tires are new "1month" to be exact. I paid a total of $2,400 for wheels + tires. If anyone wants to trade some stocks + cash, please PM me with an offer. The car is still accessible until I sign my settlement.

As for my health, I am feeling the wreck a bit more today "Sore" and my concussion is messing with my head some pretty much been in bed since the wreck =(

I'm not the type to sit still so I am going crazy inside... I typically go to the gym for 2-3 hours a day plus work 8-10hours... going from that to bed rest is a drag! But I know its needed, more so when I get up haha

Thank God for laptops eh?!

that's a load of shit. I hate people, and this is why. People have money for booze and meth but they can't pay for fucking car insurance. angers me so much to think about. There are so many worthless people that the world would be better off without.

Glad to see you walked away. Really tough break on the car though, another type-s 6mt totaled and off the road. Sad day.

what are you going to replace it with?

Yeah its crap... but at this point it is what it is, happy to be laying here at least.

I will most likely be getting a truck now, only because I have two kids and the lady wants another so, we just got her an SUV and I really would like a truck, bigger, off-road ability, so many reason. I will be looking into a car in a few years as a toy/hobby as modding is an addiction but I will be working on the truck for awhile.

Between a Cummings longhorn and a 2500HD I test drove the new TL's and I just didn't like it compared to mine... the AWD feels "odd" and to get another 08 type s, I feel, I did well there and had a great time with it for the past 4ish years.

Dude that's heavy ass truck and it's even bent to hell. That speaks volumes about how well the TL was built. I'm glad you're ok. In one pic I actually see you on the stretcher. You sure you're ok? Don't hesitate to go back to the doctor. Meth heads. My neighbor, well ex neighbor is like 30 yrs old, had a nice home built and caught it on fire, rebuilt the inside and now he's in prison for 7+ years for meth. Apparently he was doing meth the whole time, and actually making it, as well as some of my friends. 1st time in my whole entire neighborhood to have a meth lab discovered. Shocked everyone. I was approached at a few years back to buy a couple boxes of Sudafed(sp). I have way too much to lose and would never put myself in a position like that. I also have a ex-friend who's 21 and has burned hands from having a makeshift lab blow up on him. He doesn't wanna get his life together so I guess he has to kick rocks. You can't buy sudafed over the counter anymore. To get it you have to sign for it at the pharmacy and that's why people will go out their way to get others to buy it.

Anyway I'm just glad you're ok, and hope everything works out for you.

he can sue but in the end the other guys most likely doesn't have any money, bank account or property and you end up paying for everything, it happened to my brother before. This no insurance BS is all fuck up.

So glad your Okay. (Thank God) The TL did really well holding up against a Truck at 60mph.

I have a question about the whole insurance claim. Will the Insurance pay you the current market value for the car? Also will they cover all the mods you have on your car? I hope they pay for it

Wishing you a quick recovery!

Wow I looked at this earlier today and again just now after work. Thank God your ok! Continue to go get checked out because even though its minor pain now it will be major later! This makes me so mad that people would do that, I hope they get the full extend of the law. Screw the car! it did its job and your alive.

Best of luck with everything and speedy recovery.

holy shit man! those pictures are hard to look at.

However, the TL is one of the safest vehicles on the road so it did it's job. You can always replace the whip.

I hope the law throws the book at those druggies. Selfish assholes with no regard for human life.

Best luck on recovery & hopefully the insurance company doesn't make you jump through hoops.

Have you considered pressing charges or retaining a personal injury lawyer?

P.S. if I was in a crash like that and made it out alive I would never buy another car but an acura.

Hopefully I will never have a crash in my TL, but at least I know it would protect me.

I love how everyone jumps to law suits.

Hopefully OP has Uninsured Motorist coverage and then no law suit will need to be filed. The insurance company will be going after the other person for all of the money back.

I am pretty sure I couldnt step back in that car ever again, the frame is seriously damaged... My adjuster already deemed it a total lose.

Anything I remove from the car has to be replaced with something so, headlights are up for grabs id have to try and remove them. "Hood is stuck" but they told me when it gets to the next yard they will take a forclifft to the hood. haha

AC vents? not even sure how those come out? haha

Damn OP, I hope you feel better soon. This is very unfortunate though and it happens too often. I hope those douchebags get buttfucked in jail.

Some of you guys obviously don't know how it works.. the adjuster will give you the value of your car.. that includes all the parts. They are either paying for you to fix it, or in this case, buying it from you (all incl).

If you want to take parts from it.. you have to either buy the car back from them at auction value or get a reduced value. They might make $5k on this car. So if they offer you $21k, but you want to buy it back, they'll give you a check for $16k. If you take parts off the car, they'll pay you their reduced estimate of what they'd make from the scrapper, it's a trade-off.

I'm surprised your adjuster said you had to replace parts taken. How much did he offer OP? Don't accept it unless it's truly fair. Sometimes you need to be an asshole to these guys. Also, if you can swap parts at no reduction in the offer (assuming it's fair).. just buy some cheap steelies and replace the wheels and rubber. The headlights aren't worth salvaging.

It's times like these that I wish I was a judge- I'd put these 2 away for a long, long time. Unfortunately, many judges are quite liberal, so if they do some time, it probably won't be much, and even if they did, it's unlikely that they would learn from their stupidity. For these 2, once an a-hole, always an a-hole.

I hope you feel back to normal quickly.

It looks like he hit you at angle and the passenger rear door took the major hit. A split second earlier that would have been your door, A impact like that in the driver door can be deadly. Thankfully you'll be okay. You know what sucks? They probably have no money & since no insurance you can't sue anyone.
