First post here guys. Just got my 04 TL from a friend couple months ago, actually a really good friend cause he gave me the car ! 123 K miles and had some issues - had the battery drain problem and he replaced battery, then everything went dead, even the horn. So I had it towed 30 mi to my mechanic (AAA) and he replaced some fuses including the 100 amp, plus some burnt wires. It runs just fine now, plus there is no battery drain prob anymore. My A-15 (or 13?) service code is on - going to have that fixed this weekend. I have been reading this forum since I got the car (diagnosed the battery prob for my mechanic) and have learned alot, plus have several electrical issues but will address them later.

This is my first Japanese car, other than a Q-45 years ago, and I am concerned about the timing belt/water pump. My friend says he did not replace them, and there is not a current code displaying. I will have to talk with him further for more info, but it it possible the code has not come on yet with the car having 123K on it ?? He is very prompt with service on all his vehicles. BTW this is an extremely informative forum, one the best, And I have been using them for Y E A R S,

the timing belt is recommended to be changed at 105k miles. I just got mine replaced along with the water pump and all that and my car has 122k miles or around there. I didn’t notice any maintanence code but then again I don’t really check my trip computer. And according to the mechanic, the belt wasn’t too worn but it’s a good preventative maintanence.

I'm thinking of buying the kit online ($225.00) and going to a trusted Acura mechanic (not dealership). Figure I will save a few bucks. How much was yours and where did you have the work done ? B

I was going to buy the kit as well but the mechanic told me it wouldn’t come with warranty if there was a defect, his parts are covered 12 months or 12k miles and labor is covered too so I just let him work with his parts. It was at a local independent shop. I was only gonna save 1-200$ if I would’ve bought my own parts btw

Ok, thanks for the info. I'll check with mechanic (once I find one). I'll update, but don't think it will be real soon - gotta save up some $$. B

According to rockauto.com you need the AISIN TKH002 kit for your 04 TL. They have it for $183.79 before shipping.

If you get it from the ebay link below, it sells for $162.88 shipped. The AISIN TKH002 kit, IIRC, is the OEM equivalent without the dealer markup.

I will be getting the TKH001 kit, for my CLS6 from that parts outlet in a few weeks. Check them out!

I am going to see what my local Acura dealer comes back with for an estimate for this. I've already done the spark plugs, but I just need to have the AISIN TKH002 kit items replaced, correct? I'm just curious if others have added additional items to the list from experience.

Just did mine myself. Hit the DIY section here on Azine. Dealers near me wanted $1400 and $900 respectively. NOPE!
Hardest part was taking off and putting back on timing belt covers.
