Protect the front bumper on an '08 Type S?
Is there any way to protect my front bumper? I do a lot of highway driving and the chips on the front bumper are getting out of control...
Any help is appreciated...

why not embrace your highway battle scars!?!??!?!?!
no matter what, you're going to get rock chips regardless.
its apart of driving. its apart of life.
sounds like your hood is already tattered with rock chips!
keep on driving!
when they get really bad, repaint the front bumper cover!

I had a clear bra installed early this summer on my 07 Type S, however I only had 9,000 miles on the car and it was mint. So installing a clear bra on a car that already has front end rash and chips doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
So thats still on option, but its expensive and typically something thats done when new. Otherwise 3M makes a spray shield which they say lasts about a year then you peel off and re-do. Its sort of like plasti-dip but is clear. I have heard only poor reviews on this stuff.
Otherwise like Justn said maybe just let it be and if you keep it long enough have the front end repsrayed.

I looked at it this way (through an engineer's eyes).
Initially, a good clear bra will set you back $800. That's to protect the entire bumper, hood, and front of the fenders.
So say you get a certain number of rock chips in your paint a year if you do a lot of driving. Say, 5-10 a year. After two years, the paint becomes so marred that you want to repaint. So you repaint after two years at $400. It would take four years to get that money back you invested in the clear bra, and yes, the underlying paint might be good, but it also will have faded and not matched the reast of the paint on the car, which would drive you nuts.
My advice? Stop driving so close behind dump trucks and other cars. This will work FAR better than any clear bra can do.

The other thing is, sure you can repaint a car, but to people like myself that prefer original paint over a shops half ass job...I have yet to see an aftermarket paint job that is as consistent and imperfection free as original. They almost NEVER match in in all lighting conditions. Clear coat texture will likely vary between repainted panels and original. Lastly, when buying a used car I only consider cars with 100% original paint. Sure im being anal and super nitpicky, but thats just how I am.
Keep front end clean and rash free and original, or let the car accumulate chips then have parts repainted? I go with the clear bra all day long Just my own opinion thats all. I will never own another new car without a clear bra plain and simple. Got one on my S, and got one on my wifes new Highlander.

^Very well put. My first TL had the clear bra and I do A LOT of driving and it stayed very pristine (e.g. hood, bumper, side mirrors, and rocker panel).
My TL now, it's an investment I regret not taking.
