I bought it last Saturday from a small mom and pop dealer two states over; instead of trying to figure out the logistics of getting a certified check and all of that crap, I simply wrote them a check and told them I'd come down today or tomorrow to pick it up. Today is out because of some unforeseen work which popped up, so tomorrow it is.

I posted a few pictures in the following post, the pictures were taken before I drove it home; hopefully this weekend I can get it all cleaned up for some better shots.

Well, some bad news, more annoying really, more pictures of my TL are going to have to wait until next weekend at the soonest. Why? Tuesday I picked up a "star" in my windshield and when I went to have it bonded/repaired on Thursday, the glass cracked. 
I had a new windshield put on Friday, but per the rules of the new glass, no car washes for 48 hours, and now we're looking at a full week of rain. Yeesh! I'll get pics as soon as I can.

I've always wondered how other transmission fluids work in our "Hondamatics." Auto or Manual, are they truly safe to utilize long-term?

For automatic transmissions of any stripe, using anything other than what the manufacturer recommends is a recipe for a shortened transmission life. The thing about ATF is if the Coefficient of Friction (COF) is incorrect, regardless of how superior (or not) the base oil is, your transmission will fail sooner than it should. The above said, I have heard some aftermarket remanufacturers of the TL's tranny are using upgraded clutch material, so apparently such a change might also mean a change in the ATF.
For manual gearboxes it is another story entirely. For both of my (former) BMWs, I put in RedLine and the shifting, especially when cold, improved to a huge degree; for my 2009 Mazda3 (notorious for synchro issues), the (then) GM Synchromesh was the recommended fix, and for the TL 6-Speed, I can confirm the ACDelco Synchromesh Friction Modified works wonders on the transmission.
For manual gearboxes it is another story entirely. Very Interesting
I've never used anything other than Honda/Acura DW-1 transmission fluid. Though I must admit that I was interested in the "Lucas Oil" everyone seems to be talking about. Some folks swear by it... especially when shift quality is concerned. What is your take on Lucas oil?
