NYC vandalism! ***RANT**

I parked my car on my girlfriend's block for the day and took her car out and got back to find 2 finger tip size BB gun marks on my driver's door. There's little dents and the paint is completely gone, bare metal is showing... What's with these people and doing stupid stuff?? Just wanted to rant a little and give off some steam.... It's too dark to take any pictures right now, i'll post something tomorrow.

The car is a little dirty from construction at home, but you can really see how bad it is with the dirt around. Worst of all, I have liability so I'm stiffed with the repair bill.

The more I look at it, the more it looks like someone took a tip of a hammer and slammed on it. Doesn't look like a pellet gun or bb gun can make a dent like that.

i think both marks were made at the same time. I think someone tapped u with there license plate and the screws made those marks.

Those two marks are much further apart than it actually seems. Definitely not an accident where someone bounced off it. It's definitely impact marks. Also was parked on a 1 way street where they can't really hit my door.

Those are impact marks, look at the missing paint. Looks like a pellet.

Sorry to see this OP.

I've seen this happen plenty of times in my neighborhood with some of my neighbors cars (hence why I don't park my car on the street). The worst part about these situations is that you never seem to be there when stuff like this occurs to your car. I wish I would catch someone right in the act if this ever happened to my car. Oh boy...

Thanks for the comforting words guy. Also, it can't be plates cause one is higher than the other one, it's just a bad angle I took the pics at.

Does anyone know if I can keep it like this without rusting for the next month and a half? I can't send the car to the shop until after that.

I was in NYC yesterday and couldn't believe how I saw people park, bumper to bumper & when they back into a spot it's pretty much "keep backing up until you hit the vehicle behind you" situation. I saw the back of a SUV actually resting up against the hood of a civic. I NEVER drive in NYC or would ever take my TLS, not even to park in a garage. I catch NJ transit bus 10 minutes from my house into bus terminal then walk or take a taxi to wherever I have to go. People suck everywhere, they just damage other property and don't care.

Get a $5 can of clear coat and put a few coats on both spots after a little cleaning. This will keep it from rusting too badly.

I don't think touch up is going to work, it's bare metal.

I have some clear coat paint, i'll give it a shot.

As an avid bb gunner back in the day, I can say without a doubt that those are from an air rifle, probably firing lead pellets. damn kids.

Yeah, a lot of road construction in my area lately. They're tearing up the roads to repave them so there's no point of washing, it just ends up looking like that again in a day.

^^^ I agree-I hate to say this (because I enjoy going to NYC), but seeing this, and hearing of the other NYC car problems makes me glad I don't live there.

It's not so bad since I have a driveway and garage, but when I go out and park in the streets is where all the bumper nicks comes from.

Sorry that happened to you, that just sucks. Unless you have a really low deductible, would it even be worth it to claim the damage against insurance?

You're right that the roads are garbage (even though they are laying out a lot of new roads out here) but there are plenty of people that have nice cars here and they are able to keep them that way. All you need is a garage, money (you will need to respray your bumpers from time to time; that's just comes along with living here), and knowing where to park and not to park.

But I do get jealous when I go to other states and see their roads. The roads are smoother than a baby's ass!

haha that's why i want to move out of this city.

@OP: Get touch up paint and spray with clear coat after. That should hold out until you decide to get the door redone

I live in Bensonhurst Brooklyn, not exactly a bad neighborhood.. But I do understand there's crooks and haters around. I've owned a car since I was 18 and this is the first time something like this happened in Brooklyn.
