After much homework I just purchased my first TL (2008) and I’ve got a couple of questions.
I test drove the car during the day and I noticed the other night that my gear shift is not illuminated - is it supposed to be?
Also my “TL” on the back of my car (trunk door) is on the left side - same side as the lettering ACURA. Now that I’m paying attention to others I have seen several that the TL is on the opposite corner, right side, of the trunk door. Is this normal.
I’ve included a couple of pictures to see what I’m talking about.

Nope, your trunk is definitely wrong;did you get a CarFax on it? Did it show an accident?

Yes, a clean car fax. Nothing on it. Had wonderful service records. But no accidents.

Hmmm, I'm betting there was an accident in there somewhere, just not reported. I suppose an alternate explanation is the car was repainted for some reason.

yes it should light up but that is a minor issue. Its as simple as replacing the bulb. "C"

The trunk seems to line up with the panels. One way to check is to pull the inside trunk liner and see what color it is.

Also the "TL" isn't from the 3rd Gen. What it seems like the original fell off and previous owner bought a "TL" and just slap it on

The "ACURA" emblem is also misaligned..sounds like a repaint.

Perhaps the trunk was "de-badged" and the dealer "re-badged" it??

^ I thought of that also. And agree someone putting them on didn’t look at a pic of stock placement? Let alone the TL difference.........
