New Owner (2008 TL Type-S)!
Hey everyone! Last week I took delivery of my third Acura (not in a row). It's a 2008 TL Type-S (NBP). I'm the second owner and it has 57,000 miles and is in pretty good shape (no accidents, clean Car Fax). It was a trade in at a BMW dealership so I got it for a pretty good price. So far, I freaking love it.
Like any used car, it came with some issues, courtesy of the previous owner. I'm working on them now, some I have resolved, and some I'm still waiting to have time to look into. Here's the list of issues:
No wheel-lug-nut lock provided. I had an Acura dealer remove the locks with their master key and install regular lugs.
Rear view mirror hanging by the wire, literally. I know the clip is the culprit, which I purchased and need to find time to fix.
Arm rest was off, had no screws. I already fixed this, got the OEM screws and it's back to normal.
All 4 rims are curbed. They aren't terrible, but the previous owner obviously didn't know how to park.
Only one key/remote. Need to get a spare key ASAP, even if it's just the valet key. Anyone know prices of each?
No spare tire. Was thinking of getting one, or just making a tire repair kit for the space (sealant, plug, electric pump, etc) instead. Thoughts?
Slight vibration at idle that increases with speed (just got the tires balanced and it is still there). Next thing to check is the engine mounts and axles (I searched already). Are motor mounts covered by a powertrain warranty? Probably not, just wishful thinking.
Three buttons on Navi system aren't lit up, they work, just no backlighting.
Passenger side rear ground effect (under the rear door) is scratched up pretty good. Need some touch up paint (not in the little pen, I mean a jar).
Passenger side rear view mirror housing is cracked/has a hole. Already bought the housing, again just need time to get it switched out.
Smell - female owner before me smoked cigs and wore WAY TOO MUCH perfume/body spray (worst part as far as I'm concerned. Haha).
Rear deck vibrating from the bass. Have to check if it's the deck, or the sub is blown. Again, I've read a lot on here, hoping it's the deck and I can silence it.
Also, I just wanted to comment; this forum is about 90% real great info and discussions, and 10% internet BS (joking, arguing, etc), and it is great! I own a GSX-R and the forums I go to are 20% good info, 80% people who have 37,000 posts per year bashing everyone else. Honestly, I'm glad to be a part of this community.
Here is the only picture I have of her so far:

Awesome intro!! Welcome to the community. You may want to register her at www.myacura.com. Save your Navi and radio codes there for safe keeping.
You can contact Mr. Heeltoe for the keys.
You can replace bulbs in the Navi if need be.
For that nice car smell, look here:
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/whats-your-air-freshner-630840/
You should be able to find the rear deck rattle fix in the 3G garage:

Glad you like it here. Hope you stay awhile......

Congrats on the car! May I suggest that if you want to apply touch up paint on the curbed wheels, your best bet is to buy OEM touch up paint for Anthracite Metallic. Also, I would suggest getting wheel locks as well. A few members were unfortunate enough to get their Type S wheels stolen. For the most part, all items that I mentioned can be bought at your local Acura dealership.

Thanks for the welcome and the tips. I did register at MyAcura.com and saved the codes.
I can replace just some of the navi lights?! That's awesome! I'll have to search around and find a how-to.

Thanks everyone!
Truong: Yes, I got it from BWM of Bloomfield NJ. But you must have been mistaken, because there are no issues with the mileage. I checked the AutoCheck, Car Fax, and my girlfriend works in the insurance industry (had her run the VIN). Car is accident free, one owner, and mileage is legit. I also test drove it twice and had a PPI (pre-purchase inspection) done.
I'm really looking forward to getting these minor issues taken care of, especially the vibration (engine mounts). DonnieB83 said they are covered by the powertrain warranty so I'm going to look into that ASAP. If not, I'll tackle it myself and just put in the wrench time.
I can't wait to touch up the paint scratches/etc and then polish and wax it. Make it shine like new!

Great deal for what you got! the biggest thing that would bug me is the smoke/perfume smell... everything else is relatively minor: the rims can be fixed, get the aspec kit to replace your sideskirts, mirrors/bulbs and other parts can be replaced, but smells tend to linger.

So I fixed the rattliing rear deck. Sounds soooo much better! Also repaired the rear view mirror, replaced the clip inside.
I used Febreze on the cloth interior parts (floor mats & carpet) and a good leather cleaner on the seats and other leather trip parts, ArmorAll on the dash and trim, and got a pleasant smelling air freshener. Hopefully all this and after a few days of leaving the windows cracked the smell wide fade and eventually go away.
I searched around, but couldn't find/see any difference between the side skirts on the regular Type-S and an A-Spec. What am I missing?

^^^ The aspec lip kit comes with front/rear and side pieces....
the side aspec piece is a tad bit aggressive than the stock....but the front and the rear transform the look of the car and also adds 32 hp and 25tq

Potpourri and Febreeze only masks the scent... I'd recommend a wet vac if you have one and shampoo the headliner. That's where alot of the smoke gets trapped.

^^^ good catch Kane....
OP def do that and spray some lysol in the vents under the wiper while you AC is running on full blast and you have the circulation OFF....this wipes off any mold/other stuff in the cabin air filter path....
i used do that as a part of my 1/2 yearly detail after the UCM i spray some lysol directly on the cabin filter....

Wow, thank you so much for all the help and advice! I'll swap out the cabin air filter ASAP and do the headliner as well.
I'm excited about the additional horsepower the A-Spec kit adds. Hopefully I can also lower the front-end and raise the back-end so I'm always going down hill...save some gas that way
