Front bumper was swapped for base bumper

This post is overdue, but bought a '08 TL-S 6 speed with 132K miles about a month ago. Just had the major maintenance done and the front/rear rotors and break pads replaced, and some new Pilot Sports. Huge repair but worth it!

Thanks for the heads up!
I'm actually one of the lucky ones who doesn't have the 3rd gear grind/pop-out.
My car is one of the later 2008 models and the VIN wasn't included in the TSB, so I'm assuming it was already taken care of.

I've drove it for a bit and haven't had any issues with the transmission (yet)! Do you think I should still swap out the fluid for the synchromesh?

Yes.
I don't have 3rd gear issues either...but I for sure notice smoother shifting especially when cold. I have odd 2nd and 6th gear issues...that mostly go away or at least greatly reduced when putting in the GM juice.

TL-S Update!

Been quite a journey bringing this vehicle up to date with maintenance/repair - only using OEM parts (want the car to last long and don't want to risk premature failure!):
1. Replaced Purge Control Solenoid Valve - 36162-RDV-J01 - Got rid of "Tighten Fuel Cap" message
2. Replace TPMS x4 - 06421-S3V-A04 - Got rid of TPMS message
3. Major maintenance - Timing Belt & Water Pump
4. Replaced Front and Rear Rotors & Brake Pads and E-Brake Boot
5. Replaced Tires with Pilot A/S Sport+
6. Replaced Battery and Alternator
7. Performed Valve Adjustment - removed strong exhaust smell
8. Replaced MT Fluid with ACDelco Synchromesh
9. All-Season Floor-mats
10. Sunshade (not OEM) - to protect the dash from cracks!

Remaining:
1. Throw Out Bearing is worn - I hear chirping when idle (clutch not depressed - sound goes away when clutch is mildly/fully depressed)
*Might as well do clutch maintenance/replacement
2. Car was involved in an accident - my TL-S was parked when rental truck ripped off my front bumper (this is a story in and of itself... HEADACHE trying to collect for damages - brought it to small claims court and won!)

Highly unlikely your throwout bearing is responsible for the chirp as this bearing does not rotate when the clutch pedal isn't depressed. A far more likely culprit is the pilot bearing.

Oh wow, if I'm right, that's in the Bayside/Flushing area. If so, I only know because I live nearby lol. Good to see a new Acura driver in NY for once. I hope everything works out with your car . Such a shame what happened but I hope nobody was hurt!
My car has been in a few pretty bad dings in a parking lot and I was pissed. I could only imagine what you're going through. Thankfully you won the case!

Haha! Yup, right by Northern and 203rd Street in Bayside/Flushing!
And, yes, fortunately no one was hurt. Winning the case is one thing.... Collecting is a pain!

Haha I knew the location right from the picture. If you ever see a stock looking SSM 3GTL in that area, it's most likely me lol. Do you have an estimate as to when your TL will be back on the road?

Not sure yet.... Still trying to find used/new parts to replace the bumper myself rather than paying a mechanic to do it.
Hopefully by the Spring... The weather isn't too good right now, so I figured I'd push it... We should meet up sometime!

Not sure collision would have covered you here? I am not an insurance agent, but I always thought collision was to fix your car when you ran into something. Wouldn't this be uninsured motorist coverage? Then again, what it is called and the rules around it can vary greatly depending on what state/province you reside in.

I still carry the bulk of the bells and whistles coverage on my '05. At least for me....that cost differences between liability vs full is way less over the course of a couple of of years than replacing a vehicle that gets wrecked, stolen, or vandalized. I am aware I am mostly throwing money in the toilet here, but I am not ok with needing to cough up $5-10k to go buy a replacement vehicle if something were to happen. I'm good with paying the $500 or $1000 deductible. I think my insurance cost differences was only a couple hundred a year. My wife got hit by an uninsured motorist in her previous car that we had almost dropped to liability only on. It was a 8 year old car with 160k miles on it...so value wasn't high, but if we hadn't have had the additional coverage, we would have been out $3k to repair her car instead of the $250 deductible we paid while our insurance went after the other driver. And while it was in the shop, we got a free rental. All a risk vs cost review that everyone has to do on their own to take into account their risk tolerance and budget.

I know some people who may have some spare SSM parts. This was a while ago, but I'll still ask! And yeah, we recently got hit with an annoying snow storm so it isn't a good time to be working on your car! I'm hoping for the snow to disappear so I can do some last minute work on my TL, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen lol. Also, I'd be down to hang out sometime in the future!

Haven't been able to test the transmission on a cold winter day yet!

And yes, JKim, let's definitely meet up! My friend has a TLX - probably seen his car - it's wrapped in Pearl White with an obnoxious exhaust. Haha

Oh I definitely have! I'm not in Queens too often because I drive to school and back every now and then. Been racking up a lot of miles and dings for that reason lol.
