My first year in a 2004 TL was perfect!

Simple math.
His TL puts down 235-240 to the wheels, plus the CAI adds another 20-25 HP, plus the Ebay performance chip adds another 20 HP. About 280 HP to the wheels is about right. The TQ stayed the same apparently, since he never disclosed those numbers.

well this threads seem like FB 3G TL group, lol I bailed out that group long time ago because thing like this.... 280 WHP with intake and exhaust work done? well play, well play...... let OP find out the hard way even a 03 G35 sedan (260 hp) will whoop him in straight line.

the fact that you haven't posted your dyno sheet this long into the thread shows you're a complete trolling moron
OR
you are just that fucking dumb to actually think adding a CAI and retune on your mythical software will produce 40whp on a N/A motor.. so lets say you are right and your magical 1 of 1 2004 TL actually makes 270hp at the crank which means you're sitting around 240whp.. do you actually believe a intake and retune will net you 40whp? I hope you keep going back to your tuner, he sounds like the type of guy you could really trust and spend more money on... im sure if you add a J pipe to your godly TL you can easily hit 300whp... us normal folk usually get around 10whp with a aftermarket j pipe but im sure you can easily get 20whp+ with your TL

A 2004 tl pushs 270hp to the crank which is roughly 235-245 wheel horse power. Since the 2004-05 models didn't meet the new 2006+ emissions, acura used the internal software to lower the amount of horse power to the crank. That's why the 2006+ models pushed 258hp to the crank. If acura kept them at 270 then the tl would have been discontinued.
Dude, do some basic research. Here, I'll help you: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acura_TL#2006
The 2006 TL received the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and a new engine management system to help reduce torque steer. The new horsepower rating of 258 hp (192 kW) is due to a change in testing procedures, despite the engine remaining the same since 2004.
I don't have to believe anything that isn't a dyno sheet.

I agree you and your tuner are HIGH on something.....

Maybe Rodney's back in business?
And ROFL at 36MPG. What? Did the OP reset the MID while costing downhill for a few miles?
Where's that Dyno print out? Oh wait, I forget that Butt Dynos don't have a print out.

I've sustained... iirc 34mpg on flat ground for 50+ miles, cruising at about 63mph or so.
Daily driving I average 22mph lol

1. Still waiting for your dyno results.
2. Please provide the shop who did this so called re-tune on your TL.
3. Clearly, you're still oblivious about facts vs your delusional thought process.
4. As always, when someone is trying to flex to impress..

The 04 has 270 stock. Mine is a 6spd so it was around 240 to the wheels. Acura did not use the motor to its full capability in order to meet emission requirements. 280 is doable with a good tuner. I would upload pictures of my car and the dino results but my phone won't let me upload anything.
The problems I had with my BMW were a differential wine which would need future repair. Automatic transmission was going out. Replaced 2 window regulators, PS pump failed, ac compressor failed, struts were shot, belt tensioner replaced, radiator replaced, water pump broke, and coolant reservoir replaced. Also the radio quit working, so that was $600 alone at the dealership.

I'm working right now. I'll explain the story and everything once I get off work. But basically they flashed the original ecu with the new tune. Don't ask how they did it, but the guy who did it for me tunes semis and Honda's all the time. I'll explain all of it once I'm off work
Responses in this thread are great

BMW is nothing more than a status symbol. A buddy of mine had an X5 which turned out to be the biggest piece of shit ever. The backup camera failed, the cooling part of the heated/ventilated seats stopped working, and the 4WD differential leaked out all over his garage floor - all within the first few thousand miles! it spent more time in the dealer service dept than in his garage over the 6 months he put up with it.
He now has an Audi and has never been happier.

I suppose it depends upon the BMW, I bought a new 2002 530i 5-Speed with Premium Package, Sport Package, Xenon headlights, and Premium Audio and picked it up in Munich via European Delivery. That car didn't so much as burn out a light bulb while I owned it (my previous BMW, a 1999 328i 5-Speed burned out two taillight bulbs). Those E39s (and E46s) were pretty darned reliable.

As much as I LOVE the 2G 2007-2013 X5, I won't touch a BMW SUV with a stick. Owned a 2005 and a 2008 X5...nope, NEVER again.

IMHO for some reason the BMW SUV's are way less reliable than BMW cars. My theory is that they use cheaper parts to compensate for the increased cost of production. The X5 has always had numerous issues. I'm wondering if this latest gen is the same.

My buddy has a 1015 X1 and he hasn't had it long enough to really have problems persay, but damn is that thing made cheap as hell. Everything is hard plastic, ride quality was mediocre, not sporty like the sedan, and it lacked in features because it was a base model. Oh and pathetic acceleration. Now you could say that being the base entry level SUV that you can expect some of those things. But if you are okay with that then you better at least be saving money by getting the cheapest one. Not that the X1 was expensive really, I think he paid around $35K but he said he lost an absolute ton of money in depreciation. 2 years later and 15K miles and he wants out but cant even get a reasonable offer to lose only $10K. I feel bad for him because he didnt even buy it lol his dad bought it on a whim.
