My 08 Tl got stolen!!!

I can't believe this!!!

I came home around 3 a.m.(friday dec 5) from work. I parked my car in front of my house and then went inside to go sleep. 5 hours later my gf came by from work and ask where the hell i am. I said im inside the house. She then asked me again where the hell is my car then. After that question i started running down... thinking she might be just joking... and to my surprise... the car i thought is impossible to steal is GONE!!!!

How in the world is this possible!!!

I Love my TL. I babied that thing. Another thing im pissed off is that i just bought a rear sway bar that im supposed to install on sunday (dec 7). Now im stuck with a sway bar, no car, driving a malibu(rental), lost my zune, work boots, and i cant stop thinking about it.

My insurance say im stuck with the malibu indefinitely. Anybody knows how long that it usually tak before they give the payoff check?

And yes, my car didn't re-poed.

That's such a shit deal dude! Hopefully it's been towed, not stolen. I know there's insurance for these things, but if it happened to me, I'd be pissed as shit.

Sorry to hear it but stuff does happen. Be glad you have insurance and something near free to drive. I think insurance likes to wait around 30 days to see if it is found. Hope it's not. When you get your new one, consider a good alarm.

Do you have GAP insurance as well? Most car insurance will only pay for the Blue book value of your car and not the total amount you loan.

This should be a hanging offense, like stealing cattle. Hope you get it back in good shape. My son's truck was stolen and they found it 2 weeks later abandoned and trashed. Good luck.

Gps?

Can't they locate it via the GPS system? Perhaps I'm off base here, but the 07 TL that I just bought had a CD-ROM with a GPS based car tracking system......just a thought.

Wow, that is horrible!!! Sorry to hear that. No car is "unstealable" though. If someone wants it bad enough, they can get it.

Anyways, I hope the insurance company takes good care of you. Hopefully the car is NOT found. Who knows what condition it is in now or what has been done to it.

^ it happened to another member on here, i think he was from chicago, or somewhere in IL... i remember, because it was DMM, and is such a RARE color.

i see dozens of TLs on the road everyday, very common car.. so its hard to keep "an eye out" unless the car has noticeable modifications.....like, if my car ever got stolen... people would be able to spot it from a mile away....

Man that is 'effed.. I remember this a while back.. is this the one you were talking about Blackura?

Bad thing was .. he handed the keys over .. he got the car back.. "found it in the hood" .. but who knows what the guy did to his car while he was joy riding in it.. what would you do if you had a TL to joyride in?? I'd sure wouldn't buy a service loaner.. especially if it was a TL-S.. lol..

Great thing about having a home with a multicar garage.. your vehicles are protected. But our vehicles do "live" in other places as well. Such as shopping centers, work, etc. Unfortunately the only way you can pretty much guarantee that your car will not be stolen is to sleep in it with a gun in hand. And even that is not sure thing.

One of the posters called for car theft to be a hanging offense. Have to admit I'm not at all opposed to using deadly force to protect property, and I'm certainly not about to lose any sleep over some low life maggot who meets the business end of a weapon while doing his dirty work. However I suspect that in a lot of the country, such is not an option. Until we wise up and stop being so concerned for the poor criminal, this kind of garbage is going to continue. Until then, we are expected to pay (wealth redistribution?) for those who have no compunction to prey upon us, in the form of higher insurance costs and lost property value.

Well, If you have the trunk monkey, I am sure he will be back with your vehicle here in a few hours. Had to find the right spot to dump the body.

But on a serious note, sorry to hear about your car man.

I've been told to pull the parking break when you leave the car - while it doesn't make it impossible to tow (windows are still made of glass after all) it makes your car a far less desirable target for tow truck thieves.

Thank you all for the support.

I live in jacksonville, Florida.

R*D*X*- yes, i do have gap insurance. That is the only reason that i don't panic so much.

Its a good thing that i haven't installed any aftermarket parts yet. I was going to start with it the weekend it got stolen. I got the progress sway bar (for sale now-local only) waiting on my garage and i almost ordered a CAI.

I actually always set my parking brake thats why i believe that they broke in the car.

Sorry to hear man. My Tahoe was stolen in November 07. The insurance company said they'd wait 14 days for the car to be recovered before they cut a check. It was through Progressive. They found it a few days later minus $5k+ worth of equipment.

Guys who tow cars for a living know how to get around this with little damage to the car.

Sorry to hear about it. Maybe time for an '09 maybe, or a newer 08?

Dang, sorry to hear about your car. I work for Allstate and as far as stolen cars go with us you have to wait 21 days to see if it's recovered, if it's not they should cut you a check at that point. Just call up the adjuster and ask them your company's policy. Also I would have them start working on the value of the car now, that way if it's low you can dispute it and work to obtain a higher value for the car that way you can settle as soon as possible.

A lot of times insurance companies don't give you a value until they have too, that way you're desperate and anxious to settle. So say you have to wait 3 weeks and they don't give you the value until day 22, they are hoping you just want the nightmare to be over and that you'll settle. So ask right now for a value, and if you feel it's low pull up comparables in your area and see what they're going for, the insurance company owes you actual cash value of the car, not blue book value. If you have any more questions feel free to shoot me a PM.

POSSIBLE spot?...maybe?

Your car doesn't happen to a base TL 07+, possibly similar in color to what I believe is the older year Anthracite (AM)? I saw it fly by (and I mean FLY by) with a broken passenger window - looked like it had been shattered. License plate I didn't catch...but I almost wanna say that it was missing as in had brand new dealership logo on it (when you first buy the car)?...

Washington, Seattle....
