Lost 06 TL key & key fob today
Hey Guys,
Today on my way into the gym I lost my 2006 TL key along with the key fob. My guess it is probably still in the parking lot somewhere but we are having a huge snow storm in Chicago and I think my chances of finding it are slim to none.
I called up the Acura Dealer when I got home today and here are the prices they are quoting me for a replacent
Key: $160.00
FOB: $90.00
Programming/Labor: $55.00
This means I am looking at around $300 bucks for a single key and key fob replacement. Does anyone have any suggestions as to ways to get these items for a little less. I mean I am pretty much screwed and have to buy this no matter what
Any help would be greatly appreciated

check in the black market, sponsored sales-- FLbusa will send you an 07 switchblade style key for 95 bucks, it has been milled down so it can be cut and programmed for the 04-06s, typically most people that have bought them have been able to get it programmed for around 50 bucks, so your total cost is now 145 instead of the 300. The 07 key integrates the fob into the key so it is like a Merc or VW style key. check it out.

It's interesting, the breakdown was completely different, as follows:
......Key, immobilizer $45.34
......Fob, mem 2 92.63
......Labor 130.00
I wonder why the heck they're charging so much for the key? Weird.
Was your quote for a mem1 or mem2 fob? It makes a big difference, mem2 is much more expensive.
The Dougler gave you good advice, check out FLBusa's switchblade key in the Black Market section of this site. I have one and its awesome. The only downside is that it takes a while to get one, so if you need your replacement key ASAP that may not be the best solution for you.
If you decide to go with a normal 2006 key-and-fob combo rather than a super-cool modified 2007 switchblade key, remember that you can buy the blank key and fob online and then have it cut/programmed either at your dealer or at a **qualified** locksmith. Since the dealer is quoting $55 for cut/program, see if they'll do it for that price if you bring in your own key. (They'll probably complain, but see if they will do the work anyway.)
Good luck.

I found the link for you with all the info you need, check out this thread, the first post explains everything you need to know if you choose to take this path to replace your key, I have one aswell and it friggin kicks ass compared to the old style key, saves some pocket space too which is nice.
