Looking to sup my 2004 Acura TL
I have an 2004 Acura TL and for my graduation present my parents are letting me sup it with a body kit, rims, new paint job, new lights, exhaust etc.. Problem is, I have no clue of where to start looking for this stuff. Is there a place that I can take it and say make it look good? or do I need to order parts from online..
I'm truly clueless, I am not a mechanic by any means and I honestly could not tell you the first thing about cars. That is why I am turning to you guys..
Any information would be great!
Thank you.

sorry man, this had me rolling.
my suggestion is go through various sections of this forum and READ READ READ. everything you want to do has been done before and the information is out there. pick out some things you like and figure out how to get them, it's not hard.
good luck.

just look up a speed shop in your area.. there is always one.. they will have all the parts you need and also a mechanic to take care of it for you... you should be able to add everything you are looking for about $15k so pretty straight forward
and as someone says post some pictures onces you get the work done

And what do you mean by new lights? New headlights? Why are you replacing them? They're already good!
Rims: Go to Tirerack.com and find ones you think you might be interested in.
Lights: Ebay maybe?
Bodykit: handa-accessories.com, oemacuraparts.com
Exhaust: Try some vendors on here

gatr, everything you mentioned the person would have to do themselves... be easier to go to a shop and let them shop people order from here and install for them.. if anything TeeRaw can have the speed shop create an AZine account
searching and trying to find the best price, best place to install will take too much time.. be easier to just pay someone else to do it.. and i imagine there are speed shops everywhere now.. heck there is speed shops in my suburbs... more muscle cars but they can find the items at the right price.. well that is what they always tell me
and the good part is it won’t be too much... if you think about it.. a AEM V2 is about $250.. the mechanic will then charge $100 .. you know labor and other stuff.. as for the lip kit.. the mechanic can order from Acura for about $1200 then charge about $300 to install.. well if it is a good mechanic.. it can go more than $300.. the lights the mechanic can work with JnC and AckTL or look on ebay.. should be about $800 for blacked out lights.. and if he wants to upgrade the bulbs another $100.. labor for both those should be about $200
rims.. if teeraw wants it at one shop I am guessing the mechanic can find some nice wheels.. non-forged for about $1500 .. then good tires about $600 .. the mounting, balancing and such shouldn’t be more than $200 ... the exhaust TeeRaw can point to HealToe, Rv6 and Excelelrate.. let’s say the choice is bas XLR8.. so about $1000 then about $200 to install
the paint job might be the most expensive especially since the car wants to looked sup and tight.. that should run around $2500 to $3000 for a really good paint job
however to truly might it look sup you would need to drop it then the coilovers would be about $1200 and labor would be about $400
I would add tint as well which would be $300
All of those things can be done at one mechanic shop, just got to find the one that does it all or has a partner shop to take care of it

^ I agree. Just go to the Vendors Directory and contact each vendor via Private Message, Email or their phone number for prices and parts you'd need.

Well there is a huge difference between tastefully modding a car and 'suping' it up. Remember, this is an Acura TL, not a Civic. I recommend, assuming you have a stock TL, the A-SPEC lip kit, coilovers or a new suspension, Type-S or custom painted tails from Ack, roof spoiler/lip spoiler, and a new exhaust system. If you want a full body kit, you have to get the Ron Jon kit, otherwise it's probably not worth it. Wheels from Ron are made for our cars, so they are a great option.
It doesn't take much to make the TL look amazing, but the same goes to make it look like trash. Good luck!

This sounds ridiculous to me! But then again I guess I'm forgetting what it's like to be 19 years old. I would take the $5000-10000 ur parents were going to give to you for graduating high school, then sell your 04 TL, add the funds together and buy a nicer car
Like a Lexus is350 an 08 tl s

This. Ditch the 04 TL, or rather the TL altogether. Get an IS350.

Does he want to make his car have the ability to make soup? Maybe install a burner mount on the passenger seat to warm soup up?
In all realness, at your age. Save the money and sell the car for a cheaper one. Invest it and work hard, then buy a house when your 25 and owe little on it.

Wow guys, can't some of you just give a straight answer?
Here's a 19 year old, new member. Excited about his car. He wants to do some cool things to it-and parents are footing the bill. And a lot of you send him on a wild good chase.....
TeeRaw, talk to your folks and see how much money you've got to work with. Then decide what kinds of mods you want to do to your TL (performance or aesthetic mods). And we will get you to where you want to be.

For all the people with legitimate responses I thank you.. I understand that my "lingo" might not be the norm but as I said before I don't know anything about cars and that is the first thing I said .... at one point you were clueless as well.
I had a simple question...
As of right now I like the RonJon kit for the Acura, Ronjon Wheels as well. So Obviously i need to contact their website. But I don't know about Smoked out/cleared or even if Halo lights are possible on a TL.

You can't go wrong with RonJon anything! Contact Rondy at RonJon. Not sure if there are any Aero Kits left. Check out Inspyre wheels.

What the fuck is wrong with you guys today?
This is the second thread where far too many of you have made it your mission to give a noob a raft of shit instead of helping or staying quiet.
Kids will be kids and they will mod their cars and ask stupid questions; poor kids and rich kids alike. That's how it is and how it's always been.
At least TeeRaW was respectfully asking where to start. If some you got your noses tweaked because he doesn't have to pay for it, I'm sure he didn't mean to hurt your feelings, so can we please move on now?

Also I'd like to make it clear I want to get the exterior look of the car looking great before going to "Performance mods"..
Also I should say my TL is completely stock no kits or anything.. We bought it the day it was released in 04', since then it hasn't been changed. Mostly been sitting in the garage.

Here's a thread where you can start researching the parts available. About the 4th or 5th post has a section on aesthetic mods.
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-performance-parts-modifications-112/performance-modifications-tl-owners-701772/
Edit:
I also suggest you learn to do the mods and maint yourself. You're right, we all start out clueless, but this car is really pretty easy to work on, there are a TON of DIY threads and you'll gather some skills and tools that you can use for a very long time.

I would do A Spec. I was never a real fan of the Ron Jon kit..the font bumper has curved lines while the rest of the car is full of sharp angles, and the rear bumper...hideous.. A-Spec is the way to go imo. Complements the shape very well.

To the OP, I can't help in cosmetics because that's not my thing, especially body kits other than aspec.
Everything can be found on this site but best bang for the buck for power is exhaust mods.
Best bang for the buck handling is a rear swaybar. The one you choose should be based on a couple factors. A search will reveal why one might be better for you than another.
Lights.... please don't get some 10,000k bs purple lights that annoy everyone on the road and give off less light than stock.
If performance is what you're after, nothing will make as much of a difference as tires.
Last, to those considering an IS350 an upgrade, I have to disagree unless straight line acceleration is the only thing you're after. When getting mine new, I had the choice between the IS350, 3 series, G35, etc. I chose the TL based on many factors which I don't think need to be mentioned in this thread but after looking at all of these cars with an open mind since I didn't own any of the ones in question and with them all being priced pretty close I ended up with the TL. Throw a TL and IS350 on a road course with equal drivers and see which one comes out on top. I really like both cars but IMO the TL was the better one for me.

To the OP just keep it clean! Get some coilovers so you can adjust the height to exactly how you want it, rims, and if it needs it A paint job. That alone makes a car look 1000 times better.
As for the people saying to sell it and get the is350, since when is it better to get a more expensive car and not have money to mod it? I'd think most ppl on this site love to mod and have a car that stands out because they make it their own...atleast i know i do...
