Looking to buy a 2008 TL type S

I havent been around here since 2013 when I sold my 00 TL. I'm looking to buy another car and I always liked the 08 type s. Itll soon be 11yrs old . If well maintained, are they worth buying in 2018?
I found an automatic and I'm wondering if those had the infamous tyranny issues. Thanks for your input.

Several bits of good news for you, yes, the 2008 (and 2007) TL Type-S cars are worth buying. The second bit of good news is the automatic models cost less to purchase compared to an otherwise identical model with the 6-Speed Manual. Still more good news is the transmission in the 2007 and 2008 models (both base and Type-S alike) have proven to be pretty reliable.

All the above said, would I buy one? No. Why? Simply because I am kind of allergic to driving cars with automatic transmissions.

1st timer what has your research lead you to believe about buying an 07-08 Type-S?

These are the Ebay $400 set. Color is slightly darker but they run true. Came on the car when I bought it. I have some 8.5 Aspecs getting some powder this winter for next year.

If you order from Acura today its come as the same color as those wheel, personally I prefer that black over the 07 dark silver.

Everything has a price, but not a KBB price. Make it worth my time to pull it out of storage and she gone. I've been eyeing up a new/used truck but don't want two auto loans.

" more you can afford pal... Ferreri" all joke aside I would vouch you go and buy Breezy the car as the previous owner is a member here and he really taking good care for the KBP TL, he too owned about 3 TL at least 2 of them are TL-S MT.

Not sure how far you are willing to travel but I found this on Craigslist here in the Tri-State.

Seem to be in decent shape and damn good price.

I didn't notice that... But the dash craks are almost inevitable... If I still had my TL, or when I get another, I'm getting that nice, OEM looking dash cover weather it's craked or not... Protection...

I guess that makes mine a double unicorn, mine has a 6MT and no cracks in the dash.

What is this "nice, OEM looking dash cover" you speak of? My dash has no cracks (yet!), so a nice dash cover would be nice!

Oops, you mentioned the tranny breaking on a Previous TL after purchasing a house. I read it like it was your Unicorn.

I hold the belief that both the type-s and base models are amazing vehicles. But the type-S feels a bit tighter than the base.
I drove my brothers 2008 CBP 5AT Type-S 105k miles two weeks, and it runs almost as tight and crisp as the type-S 6MT with 88k miles.

Compared to the 2007-2008 base model, it feels as though the suspension is tighter, steering is tighter(6MT makes for tighter shifts aswell. The type s feels lighter on its feet.

Not sure if this is due to my base model having 167k miles or not, but it seems geared more towards the luxury side of an entry model luxury/sports sedan.

6mt will be lighter because the auto is the heavier transmission

But only for the 04-06 6MT, because the 3.5L makes up the weight of the weight savings.
